Sitting right on the lake in the heart of Garda's historic centre, Hotel Piccolo is a great little family-run hotel, in an ideal location.
Its restaurant is well known in Garda and the evening meals, often taken al fresco by the lakeside, are based on traditional Italian recipes and local specialities.

Really good value
Spent ten days here in the middle of August. It is rated as a two star due to not having a pool, I think, but I would give it a three star grading. We don't normally go to hotels with less than three stars but we thought we'd give it a go after reading a lot of positive reviews. There seems to be several different room types but I can only comment on the one we had. We stayed in room 7, which came with a private shower room with toilet in the hallway, to which we had the only key. It was a little further down the hallway than we had anticipated ( about six or seven metres or so) but after day two this didn't really bother us too much. The only real inconvenience was if you needed the bathroom during the night but the hotel supplies you with thick towelling robes for you to use. The room itself was average size with tv, sink and free safe. It was kept very clean with fresh towels daily for both the room and the bathroom. There is no air conditioning except for a huge silent ceiling fan which, surprisingly, kept the room reasonably cool. The staff were pleasant and courteous, especially the waiters who were very friendly. The highlight for us though was the location. The hotel is situated on a square right by the lake side and dining and breakfast, sitting right by the lakeside was one of the most satisfying eating experiences we have ever had. It was beautiful just sitting there enjoying dinner with some red wine watching the sun setting over the lake. Absolutely stunning!! Would we go back there - we sure would but would maybe try to get one of the rooms which had ensuite facilities, of which there are four out of the total of ten rooms. Very, very good and many thanks to the family who run the hotel for making it a very pleasant experience indeed!! Over all score 17 out of 20.More
We booked a double room for two nights on a short break in Garda. At short notice, we stayed in Room 8, on the second floor. This has a separate bathroom across the corridor, which we were happy with. The room is small, but neat and clean, the beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of wardrobe space. There was a wash-hand basin and a TV. The bathroom was a bit dated, but very clean and no shortage of hot water. Breakfast was included and the the buffet spread was excellent and generous. The family Dorella and their staff were very professional, helpful and very pleasant. We were offered a dashboard display ticket for free parking at a local facility a few minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel itself is right on the lakefront and breakfast can be taken outside in the piazza.More
The room is very basic but is very clean. The beds are not very comfortable and neither are the pillows. Was struggling to get any sleep. The ceiling fan is not adequate. Could do with upgrading to air con. The menu is very repetitive. Pork served 5 nights out of 7. vegetable and tomato soup served 2 nights out of 7. The night before leaving the daughter said breakfast would be available as we were having to leave early for our flight. When coming down for breakfast the mother said goodbye and pointed to the door. When asking about breakfast she said not ready and goodbye. It seems that the family are more interested in the restaurant side of their business than the hotel side. Would never consider staying here again.More
3rd visit to this truly relaxing hotel
Speaking as a person who is diabetic with Coeliac too, eating out is usually the biggest nightmare for me. Not here, I love it!! Sonia & her brother Stephano are really very good at preparing my food, so I can eat and enjoy with 100% confidence. Sonia even guides me to what I can and can't eat, when my own Italian translation is not so good. Even glamorous Mamma Dorella comes out every evening to greet the guests with her lovely smile. Every time we visit, the food has always been delicious local sourced & freshly cooked (& healthy too) plus every meal is served by caring, pleasant waiting staff, many are the family members, who really ensure all you have to do is just sit back relax and enjoy the totally magnificent views and atmosphere from their outdoor terraced area overlooking Lake Garda. Its a small family Dorella business with just 9 rooms, it's so authentic and very clean. I cannot praise this family and their hotel enough.More
Great view from the restaurant
The prices are high, the portions are small (especially re the sallads), the wines are great and so is the view. But all the dishes tasted fantastic and the truffel linguini was the best. Also try the seaperch makkaroni also very enjoyable.More

It's worth noting that restaurant seating on the lakefront is allocated at the owner’s discretion and there is a section close to the water that is reserved. Guests can sit in this area if they order from the à la carte menu, to which a 20% discount will be applied (drinks not applicable).
There's a short walk to and from the hotel on arrival and departure. Your luggage will be transported to a central location on the lakefront, a couple of minutes' walk from the hotel, and you'll need to collect it from there.
Just so you know, a tourist tax is payable locally in cash. This will be approximately €0.80 per person, per night.
