Excellent hotel with fantastic service
Be careful when booking this hotel as the Thomson brochure is incorrect. Standard rooms do not all have balconies and we were allocated one of the 6 rooms that do not. However, the room was excellent. Very modern with fantastic air con. The bed was very firm but the pillows were too soft. The bathroom had a walk in powerful shower, large sink, toiletries (towels could have been better though) and a TV with a selection of English channels and Sky sports. There is only enough hanging space for a weeks worth of clothing though.Towels were changed daily even if we did not require it. You choose your table in the dining room on the first day and use ther same one throughout your stay for the evening meal. The sittings for dinner are either 6:30 or 8:15. This is due to the restaurant not being overly big. The food in our opinion was fantastic. Dinner was of exceptional quality and selection with 2 soup choices, at least 2 meat and 2 fish dishes every day plus cooking to order, pasta, paella and a fantastic salad selection including at least 6 dressings. The sweets were also excellent. Breakfast had a good selection of cereal, yogurts and fresh fruit with rolls, pastries, cooked meats, cheeses, pancakes, english sauasges, eggs cooked in every way and porridge. 4 choices of fresh juice and gluten free diabetic foods if required. The pool was very cold and hardly anybody used it.The indoor pool was closed for the week we were there which was unfortunate as we had a couple of bad days weather and would have liked to use it. The gym is basic with only 4 pieces of equipment. The sunbeds cannot be reserved and if towels are left before 10am, they are removed and taken to reception. This worked very well so no rushing to reserve a bed at the crack of dawn. Entertainment was ok, 2 quite good evenings with singers and 2 average. These were from about 9:30 - 11:00 each evening. There is very little day time activity only walks to a castle and the local market and a bit of yoga. You can walk all the way to Cala Bona whicbh takes about 40 minutes either along the promenade or on a parallel road with all the shops and restaurants. There are about 20 Spa supermarkets within the surrounding area and a decent fridge in the room to stock up if required. The Sporstmans pub is just around the corner run by an English couple showing all the football you need if required although the TV in the bar at the hotel also showed several games. Overall, the staff were excellent, very friendly always eager to please. The hotel is very modern, clean and in an excellent location. The drop off took 1hr 40 mins due to several drop offs so not the 70 mins as stated in the brochure. Only one thing we were not happy with was having to pay 2 euros per night for the room safe which is ridiculous when its already in the room. We went on 1 excursion to Son Amor which was excellent although the food was a real let down for us and we were sorry to miss the food at the hotel on that evening. The average age of the guests were 50+ so all in all a very chilled out holiday. There is also an excellent library so no need to pack too many books. We would happily go again.More

Such scruffy shorts in restaurant
We cannot believe how the thomson brochure and the hotel state men in long trouser for dinner. There is nothing wrong with shorts but the state of people going into the restaurant cut down old jeans and all the hems hanging down. Ok men wear smart shorts for dinner but what we have seen is a joke. More
Return Visit to the Protur Playa
After having a wonderful holiday last year, we booked again for 2017 not long after returning home. We booked a Jacuzzi Room, and it did not disappoint. The private sunbathing area had stunning views, and the Jacuzzi was great. This hotel is spotlessly clean, and is a credit to the domestic staff. Once again the food was plentiful, well presented and delicious. The Staff at the Playa are fantastic and they obviously enjoy their work, and are always friendly and helpful. As stated by many reviewers, the location of the Playa is perfect. It is close to a beautiful beach and a short walk from the shops and restaurants. Last year we gave the Playa 10 out of 10. This year we are giving it 11 out of 10. Our thanks to the Management and Staff of the Playa, we hope to see you again soon.More
Excellent hotel; very clean. Polite, friendly, helpful staff. Good food choices. Treat to real English-type bacon for breakfast on 3 days (labelled 'Lomo' which translates as loin pork in the Spanish/English dictionary).Queueing settled after 10 minutes at dinner time, container lid problem-nowhere to put them, only on top of next container which stopped someone using it. Not told of barbecue (missed it) or manager's drinks reception which we just caught sight of. Entertainment was varied, to suit all tastes - acoustics were very echoey when artists were indoors, better outside. Daily advertised activities were good but apt to be changed on the day - we missed out on a particular favourite of a quiz (twice advertised, twice cancelled.) Our limited sea view room overlooked the pool & we could see the sea. Lovely infinity rooftop pool. It would have been good to have the indoor pool open on the 2 consecutive rainy days.More

Excellent stay at a fabulous hotel!
Having read the reviews, our expectations were high and we were not disappointed. From the time we arrived, efficiency was the prime game. Check in was easy, but very thorough, everything we needed to know was explained to us, accompanied by a very welcome glass of Cava! The system of choosing your table for evening dinner was, in my view, a good idea, as it meant you knew every day where you would be sat, without the hassle of trying to find a table. The restaurant was a little crowded around the buffet area, and you had to be aware of those who just put their head down and were going through, regardless of whoever was in their way- there were one or two near misses! Sun loungers were very much in demand, and there was still the perennial problem of people out at 7.30-8, trying to hog the best placed ones. The hotel did have a policy of removing towels on unused beds, we did see them removed a couple of times, but it did not deter the most determined offenders! The staff were very friendly and helpful, and always sociable and polite. The extra touches, such as the optional dinner in the a la carte restaurant, and the glass of Cava on your last evening were very thoughtful and made the difference between a very good stay and an excellent one. We have stayed in a Protur hotel before on Mallorca, but this one is far better. Will we return? Most definitely! More
