We visited this marvellous hotel in July this year for a one week all inclusive stay. I wish it had been for two weeks. The transfer time from the airport is approximately forty minutes which is ok, and you pass the barren moonlike landscape which turns into Sahara sand dunes, an impressive start to your holiday. On arrival at the hotel, a young porter bounded down the steps and took our luggage from us, then offered us a welcoming glass of fresh orange whilst we were booked in, a great first impression. The booking in was easy and smooth, and the arrangements for meals, safe, towels explained. Our room was a very large one, plenty of wardrobe space, air con, TV with English channels, excellent bathroom facilities and a balcony you could play hide and seek on it was that big. Safes are provided free of charge, a fridge had a couple of complimentary waters in, and the Wi-Fi was strong. No complaints at all. Now to the nuts and bolts. Pool towels are free, you get two tickets on arrival, one entitles you to a free towel and the other entitles you to one change per week which is obtained from the lifeguard’s office near the pool bar. For the long suffering sun worshipers, the sunbed wars do not exist at this hotel, as the pool area is chained off until 9am. There is then a small dignified queue of twenty or so guests who vie for the top spots, thereafter you can stroll down at any time of the day and get a sunbed, bliss for those who like me have suffered at other resorts where you have to be SAS trained to get a sunbed! Breakfast and evening meal is served in the large dining room at pool level and the range of food at breakfast is astonishing, I didn’t even recognise some of the items on offer. There is a less of a range at evening meal, but you would be hard pressed not to find something, and the quality is superb. Lunch is served in a raised up pool bar with a menu you would be pleased to read in any decent restaurant/snack bar ranging from toasted sandwiches to fillet steak ( if you are all inclusive this is all free) Drinks are available at the same bar from about 10:30am. This hotel and pool area are exceptionally clean. The staff are all professionals, not the eastern European students making a few quid which you can get in some resorts. The main bar area is very nicely set out, and there is a full range of drinks and cocktails available under the all-inclusive tariff. The hotel is situated down a side street, three minute’s walk from a beach and five from the main road which forms the resort centre. There is a shopping centre to the left and a few bars, then a full main street to the right of bars restaurants and shops, leading to what’s known as the old town, which are more bars and resturaunts. Even that is only a fifteen minute walk from the hotel. There is a decent gym, with enough to occupy you for an hour if you are inclined, and the spa is fairly comprehensive for treatments etc. All in all, this hotel is closer to a five star than a four. The adults only set up is different at first, but you soon get used to the pace of hotel life and realise this is worth paying for. It’s not full of old dodderers; the age range of guests was from eighteen to ninety. If you really do want to stay in the hotel at night to take advantage of your all inclusive tariff, the entertainment is very much above average. However the resort is very vibrant and you would be advised to at least go and look. I will definitely be returning to this hotel, they have got everything right.More

A very lovely hotel. Attention to detail was excellent. All staff were very accommodating and polite and nothing was too much trouble. Food was excellent with a great variety and plentiful. Overall a wonderful find. The nearby beach was wonderful and the bus service was great. Would definitely recommend it.More

We arrived at the Barcelo after being delayed for 2 hours, a few got off the coach but check in was fairly quick and cold drinks were set out. The hotel looked lovely from the outside and going in we weren't disappointed. With the added bonus being adults only. Our room (2010) overlooked the pool reasonable sized balcony with chairs and leg rests not plastic ones our room had sun all afternoon and evening. A good size room with a huge very comfy bed choice of pillows, loads of wardrobe space and plenty of hangers, a small fridge and tea/coffee tray. Nice bathroom plenty of room plenty of towels and spotlessly clean, house keeping daily and every day to a very high standard. Pool was lovely some thought the water a little cool, but it was fine for us, the hotel supplied big soft pool towels plenty of sun beds, some brollies and palm trees for shade, if beds were left unattended for more than 2 hours ish the towel could be removed very good idea. Only a few minutes walk from the main strip with bars and restaurants old town nice for us better than the main strip, there's a nice walk along the beach prom to the old town. We stayed bed & breakfast, excellent breakfast every morning with cava and wonderful choice. There was a spa at the Barcelo and I had a pedicure little pricey but was very nice and the spa was seemed fairly busy. In general the hotel paid attention to detail, the staff were always happy to see you and helpful WIFI through the the hotel free of charge, coach to and from the beach free every day. We loved the Barcelo had a relaxing happy holiday and would recommend it to all apart from children !More
