White beaches, fun-packed waterparks and ancient history
Choose an all inclusive holiday to Crete and you’ll have all the essentials covered upfront, leaving you free to laze on Blue Flag beaches or explore the ruins of Ancient Greece.
With an all inclusive holiday to Crete, your flights, hotel, food and drinks are paid for upfront. So you can forget about racking up the expenses and concentrate on enjoying the sandy beaches, big-name sights and natural beauty the island has to offer. Here are 5 great things about Crete…
Beaches for all occasions
There are fantastic beaches at Agioi Apostoli and Gerani – great for classic bucket-and-spade-based fun. Over in Malia, the beach is lively day and night, with banana boats, beach volleyball and dancing on the sand. For a really quiet stretch to relax on, pack a picnic and head for Maleme Beach.
There’s a wide choice of shopping destinations on the island. Mousouron Street in Chania is the place to go for local specialities like thyme honey, olive oil and bottles of raki. Meanwhile, Heraklion deals in chic boutiques. At the very top of the scale, seek out its seriously upmarket jewellery shops on Agias Parakevis.
Watersports and waterslides
Crete is big on waterparks, but the king of the white-knuckle waterslide has to be Watercity in the Anapolis Hills. Elsewhere, the beaches of Kokini Hani and Malia offer up plenty in the way of pedalos, PADI scuba-diving schools and jet-skis.
Beyond the beach, Crete’s unspoilt surroundings offer a chance to explore the countryside. There’s Samaria Gorge, a nature reserve of craggy rocks, cypress trees and rare species. Or you can ride a donkey to the underground cavern at Dikteon, one of Crete’s 3,000-plus caves.
Rethymnon old town
Whitewashed houses on winding streets, colourful shutters, stone steps and arched doorways... the old town in Rethymnon is a taste of traditional Crete. Don’t miss the Fortezza, the world’s biggest Venetian castle, or the fairy-lit Venetian harbour.
