From start to finish this hotel was amazing. All the staff made sure we had a wicked time and were happy to go out of their way for us. The waiters were amazing and only after a couple of days remembered our drinks and had them at our table by the time we'd sat down with our food. Reza the pool guy asked us where we'd like to lay by the pool and had sunbeds/towels out for us every morning. The animation team were really fun and friendly and always stopped to talk to us despite us not wanting to join in with the games (we were just happy to lay by the pool tanning). Michael, the restaurant manager was so lovely. Always making sure we were okay and had everything we needed and always having fun with guests. Same for the bar staff - all so lovely and friendly.
Our room was clean and we always got our towels shaped into animals left on our bed. All rooms faced the pool and had balconies. You could always see what was happening by the pool and hear the music quite clearly.
The food was pretty good - I enjoyed it and there was always something for everyone and being half Egyptian, I enjoyed that they had a section for local food - made me feel at home!
Would definitely like to come back at some point. 100% recommend this place.More

The hotel on first arrival late at night was beautiful. We were escorted to our room by a nice man, very sweaty but we got past that due to how hot the weather was. Upon arrival into our room it was filthy. We reported to reception who said to come to us at 6am the next day. None of my family could sleep and had an hour at the most. At 6am we went and they told us to come back at 1pm. We came back at 1pm and they told us to come back at 6pm. At 6pm they gave us a room that was two floors above, but with no coffee stains, ants, dirty sheets, filthy toilets or broken tiles. The hotel was incredibly humid and we were stuck in four walls. The sun was nice and food was ok. Incredibly nice staff. GO FANTAAAAA. Animation team and bar staff were lovely. Manky cups that were re used. Good taxi service and good advice. More
the hotel was lovely as solo traveller I must the experience of the hotel getting to see Israel brilliant ,but at the poolsde bar one morning I was challenged to a fight by barman but as man of 57y.o why would I looking for aggression when holiday I'm there to have good time but also 13 weeks previously I had ICD fitted to my heart, recovery was slow process so for the eejit of a barman wishing to fight.
I complained to the bar manager and he was dismissed the barman said he was joking but as ex cop he was serious as his manner suggested plus 3 their was women witness whole episode and agreed with my acount of events
my trip to Israel was amazing to say the leastMore
Our first room we had there were problems with the shower. Then the second room we were replaced with the roof was leaking and the door lock was broken. Then we were third time lucky. That room was fine thank God. The reception manager was brilliant always ready to sort any issues out.
I took my little girl with me for half term. It was beautiful weather at this time of year.
The hotel was clean and lovely. The animation team brilliant activities at the pool esp water aerobics and the evening entertainment esp belly dancing show and Turkish man dancing was amazing all with arabic music.
You get a free shuttle to visit the sister hotel Jaz Mirabel (looks amazing bigger and more aesthetically pleasing than Sharks Bay!) You are not allowed to sit on their sunbeds by the pool but you can use the private beach. The pizzas are really tasty from the restaurant there by the pool! We used the spa there and I had a massage.
My daughter was so amused as there were so many Mohameds that worked in Sol Y Mar Sharks Bay so she didn't forget the name when ordering her mocktail. She was treated like a princess only 9 years old at the time!! They keep bringing ice cream and fruit kebabs to everyone at the pool. It was nice to cool off.
The chef in the main restaurant in hotel was brilliant too he said if there's anything you fancy eating which you can't see we'll try our best to accommodate it. I asked for chicken curry one night and it was really flavoursome. The waiters always looked after us!
Snorkelling and Diving excursion in the Red Sea was awesome. You go on this yacht out to sea and stop at certain places and there's lunch on the yacht as well. We really enjoyed. Also one day we saw the dolphin show which was amazing. Our fav excursions!!
Another little gem I took my daughter to was this idyllic place La Farsha. It's so beautiful in the evening you see the sun set its amazing. It's got these coloured cushions and candle lit lamps so tranquil.
We also took a taxi from the hotel to the Soho Square one evening. Movenpick ice cream was so yummy and the chicken shawarma was lovely. Plenty of places and restaurants to eat in... Lebanese Mexican Indian Italian etc. We watched the dancing fountains. (They are not better than the ones we saw in Dubai but still really good). There are a couple of nightclubs there too for the younger lot.
The housekeeping team made animal origami out of the towels. One day we had a swan another day a elephant and the last day a monkey hanging off the door. My daughter was so happy.
If you ask the hotel reception staff kindly they can order a KFC and McDonalds for you. They deliver it on a scooter just by the gates outside the hotel. Amazing if you got kids missing their treats!
Really good vacation XMore
A home from home
We have visited this hotel twice now and will be returning again! The staff are some of the friendliest people I have ever come across and nothing is ever too much trouble. We have many of them on Facebook and really feel as though they are friends. You really feel like you are part of the family here. The cocktail night is always good when there are drinks and nibbles in reception which is a time to meet other guests but also chat to the management. The entertainment staff go above and beyond and work such long hours. We really enjoyed learning all the songs and the actions to go along with! Mornings around the pool were always a good laugh. There was plenty to do here although the afternoons were more chilled with less activities taking place here. There was always plenty of variety with the food. I remember the chef taking me round and explaining all the varieties of fish and especially the local food. It is this personal touch that really adds something to the sol y mar and makes it a joy to visit. We can't wait to return!!!More
