First week didn't get off to a good start as there was torrential rain and thunder storms..unfortunately this hotel does not seem to cater for days with this weather, all bars etc are outdoors so not much to do if this happens. This hotel could really do with an indoor air-conditioned bar as it is still extremely hot at night and can be very humid so you dont always want to sit outdoors. Cannot fault the cleanliness of the hotel and ALL of the staff are very nice and always attentive to your needs. Restaurants are good and no need to prebook but sometimes you might have to wait a little while before you can be seated..food is good but does get a bit same-ish by the end of 2 weeks. Our favourite restaurant was Klay Talay (Oriental) and best place for breakfast was Vida although this was also the restaurant with the worst service..we waitied for 40 minutes one morning for our breakfast to be served!! VERY disappointing that they charge you 50 dollars per week for internet access...make sure you speak to your concierge about the internet access as they can get you 2 weeks for the price of 1. We would highly recommend a visit to Coco Bongo...it was fantastic and well worth the money. Another good day out is chichin itza, we booked through our thomsons rep and our tour guide was well informed and had great banter...it did get extremely hot there so make sure you go prepared. This hotel is quite a distance away from the nearest town so you will need to take a taxi or the local bus is you wish to have a wander. Another downside to this holiday was the fact that both of us had a dodgy tummy for a few days and this seemed to be happening to quite a few people...all toilets and restaurants have hand sanitiser so I would recommend that you regularly use it.

Great hotel, immaculately clean, great location (between Tullum & Playa Del Carmen), fantastic food & service plus the hotel has an excellent commitment to the environment - recycling, eco-friendly air-cons, growing their own produce on-site, etc We stayed in the "Premium Suites" which is the newest and biggest block on the complex, situated very close to the main reception building. Room was modern, spacious, light, VERY comfortable, big LG plasma with 50 TV channels (about 30 of which were in English), Blu-ray player, Jacuzzi bath, separate shower room, two sinks, massive bed (EXTREMELY comfortable), sofa, coffee making facilities, fridge (fully stocked with beer / soft drinks / water - you choose and they'll sort for you! and private balcony. You have your own personal concierges for the block - all incredibly helpful and could arrange pretty much anything you asked. Housekeeping kept the room immaculate and there was a different animal made of towels on the bed every day. The block also has it's own pool with swim up bar / food. There are 5 food outlets - Italian (definitely the best!) / Garden grill (which is actually indoors!) / Mexican / Outdoor 'sandwich' bar / Asian fusion / and an International restaurant. If the weather is good there is also a beach breakfast / lunch BBQ. The hotel is All Inclusive and the food quality is EXCELLENT. It is restaurant service all the way (no naff buffets to be had here!) so gentlemen you will need a collar in the evening to go for dinner! Shorts are fine as are polo shirts but no collar, no dinner! Order as much or little as you like, it is all incredibly well prepared and presented, the staff are very welcoming and the service was always first rate. 24 hour room service is available and all inclusive also. Entertainment (if you want it) is relaxing and varied in the day, and a good quality show with various acts on throughout the week. All of them were of a very good standard, they don't go on forever and they won't keep you up all night! Beach is spotless, plenty of sunbeds, Watersports centre, afore mentioned BBQ at lunchtimes, waitress service for drinks, etc. Sea is clear and like a warm bath!! The Spa is very good and a nice way to spend a cloudy or rainy day if you get one. It is a little pricey though but speak to your personal concierge and there is normally a deal to be had. Final words for everyone at El Dorado - thank you for a really lovely and very relaxing holiday!!

There is building work going on at this hotel that was not mentioned to us before we travelled, we were also not told that the resort have now opened a new block of 96 rooms that's approx. 200 more people, however there are no extra resturants to cope with the extra amount of people. We tried all different times to arrive at the resturants to ensure a table, but we had to wait at best 45 mins and on one occasion 1 hr 15 mins!! FOR ALL MEALS. Not acceptable. We were also taken ill with a tummy bug which seemed to affect a lot of people. We asked to move hotels after 5 days and thank goodness we did, we finally felt we were on holiday. To cap it all we had a 10hr flight delay on our return flight!! We did not have a good holiday and will never return to the el dorado seaside suites, Thomson should look into this resort its just not what we booked!

Sorry I have not left feedback earlier but have been very busy at work paying for holiday. As per heading, what should have been an all round fantastic experience with you was some what soured by the flight. I have never flown premium economy before but we decided with some trepidation to push the boat out for this holiday and pay an additional £500 to fly this way. When we booked the holiday and decided to upgrade our flight it was not highlighted to us that we would have to pre-book our seats. So when we turned up at departure check in for our holiday and was told that we had been allocated 5c and 6c we were not very impressed as i do not expect to pay a lot of money more to sit looking at the back of my wifes head on a 9+ hour flight. Then when on the aircraft and pointing out our concerns to be greeted by a blase attitude of This happens all the time does not really help. The same happened on the return journey, this time we had 1e and 2e. Again the attitude at check in, tour reps at airport etc was really could not care less and why are we making such a fuss. Well I am sorry but I do not expect to pay all this money to be not sitting with my wife. I am sure if I had gambled on sitting in economy there would have been a fair chance we would have been seated together. What compounds it even more is that whilst in resort and talking to other travelers they were saying that they had been upgraded to premium economy because they had complained so much about not flying dreamliner and had also been given a refund. I am sorry Thomsons this is just not good enough.
