Just back from our first trip to Aruba and absolutely loved it. Could not have had better weather - 30+ everyday, and the hotel was wonderful. Lovely big pool with fantastic service around the poolside (Valentina made every hour "happy hour"), and lovely sandy beach with warm water. Room was spotlessly clean and I couldnt believe that we had a vodka optic in our room! Food in the main buffet was marvellous and, unlike some buffets at All Inclusive, the food was fresh, piping hot and the veg was not overcooked. All the bars were well stocked - wonderful cocktails and friendly waiter service. Plenty of local shops/bars/restaurants just on the road by the hotel so if you wanted to get out the resort there was plenty on the doorstep. Lots of trips on offer and the Reps, Wes and Nicky, were in the resort and available every day and went out of their way to make your holiday a memorable one. Will definitely return to Riu.

Just got back from a week at the riu palace aruba. Had a nice relaxing stay and we were very pleased with all aspects of the hotel. The only little niggle my wife and i could complain about was that towels were put out very early in the morning on the beds by the pool and also the beach which made it very hard to get shade from the very hot sun. But on a plus side it meant we were up early so got to enjoy a longer day at a great hotel. If you like walking its good to head up the beach towards the lighthouse end of the island as the scenery becomes less built up and great for finding shells.

We stayed at the Palace in June this year we had read a few negative reviews so were a little wary but we didn't need to be, the hotel is magnificent we don't normally stay in high rise hotels but this was an excellent choice we stayed in a junior suite with partial sea view, the room balcony and view were fantastic. The staff were great nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with a smile you were treated like best friends even the general managers went out of their way to make you feel welcome, the only downside is the saving of chairs by the pool and on the beach but that is down to the people some saved beds on both beach and pool and never used either but if you asked the pool staff they would fetch a bed for you, we thought that it was sad that people would start reserving beds at about 5am it is supposed to be a holiday, but or everything else it was great. It is called the happy island and it certainly lives up to its name

Having holidayed at RIU last year and loved it, we decided to have our wedding and subsequent honeymoon at RIU this year. The first week was amazing. The location, the atmosphere, the staff, the food, everything. Yeah you had to be up before 9am to get a lounger round the pool, but that didnt stop you then going back to bed for a few hours. The food was top class, didnt think that much to the italian speciality restaurant but the others were excellent. We upgraded to a Jacuzzi suite, anyone who has booked one, ask for suite 901, it's huge, with jacuzzi inside and out. Amazing sea views and beautiful to watch the sunset. Then the brazillian football players arrived. each year there is a carribean football tournament in Aruba, 500 brazillian footballl players checked in and it was hell. They overtook the bars, restaurants and for some reason couldnt speak to eachother, they had to shout. It completely ruined the whole place. Urinating, vomitting and throwing drinks at each other in the pool, throwing loungers into the pool, having to be hawled out of the pool because they were that drunk they couldnt walk!! It was scenes reminiscent of a 18-30's holiday in magaluf, not a 5* resort in the carribbean. I am in no way blaming Thomson for this, they were brilliant along with us constantly complaining to the hotel management who just 'wrote things down' and blamed their reservations team. Staff at the hotel said it is the same each year. The staff there deserved medals for what they put up with from them. A lot of us will be seeking some kinda of compo from RIU.
