Was very disappointed with the flight to Aruba as although I informed Thomson my daughter had a nut Allergy and was informed that the flight would be a nut free flight I was informed at check in that they didn't know anything about my daughters allergy. No announcement was made on the plane until they were serving bar food on the plane, this in my eyes was poor as someone could have been eating there own peanuts on board the pane. I was also informed that my daughter didn't have a nut free meal on board so in the end she had my meal and I had her children's meal. My daughter didn't like my meal, she is only 3 and ended up not eating anything. Got to Aruba and walked into our hotel room (junior suite) and we had 2 x over size single beds and the sofa didn't fold into a bed so had to get the maid to bring a single bed into our room for my daughter and they pushed the 2 x single beds together for me & my husband. My mum & dads room which was a standard room was much better and yet we paid more for our room (not sure how that works) also they had animals made out of towels everyday and we didn't get one made in the 2 weeks we were there. We also got locked out of our bathroom as shut the door and went to open it and the door wouldn't open. We had to wait over 1hr for maintenance to come and unlock it. On the plus side the food was really good, staff friendly and plenty of sunshine. The return journey was just as bad as outward journey. I informed my rep about my daughters allergy and what had happened on the way out and she emailed head office and also sent a form onto the people on the plane and yet my daughter still didn't have a nut free meal on board and was advised that they don't do children's nut free meals and all they could offer her that was nut free was a peri peri chicken which when we gave it to my 3 year old it was too spicy for her. I am so disappointed in Thomson and have lost all confidence in booking my next holiday with them. This was my first holiday abroad with my 3 year old and it's stressful enough going away with children ect without dealing with a Hungary child.
Lovely resort, having been 4 times before for a day when cruising, we chose the RIU Palace for it's location. Great food in the main buffet, not so clever in the specialised restaurants. Swimming pool gets cleaned daily, but by mid morning the water looks murky. Cleanliness of the hotel and rooms very good. Long flight, wish Aruba was nearer to England. I still can't work out how you upgrade your flight. It would be nice to visit during our Winter, but for some reason we can only holiday there between May & October. Why? Overall, very recommendable.
A beautiful Palace resort located on a gem of a beach. The facilities of this RIU hotel are second to none matched by its service and attention to detail. Quality of decor, food and entertainment is outstanding and highly recommended. It can become a little busier at the weekends as opposed to midweek but this for me made for an even more cosmopolitan feel. I never had to queue once for meals or drinks once in 14 days, a truly remarkable hotel.
