Me, my boyfriend and his parents stayed here from 3rd May till 10th May and had a brilliant week. When we checked into reception we did have to leave our passports there for the week which we wasn't very comfortable with, but I have been on many holidays where the staff have kept my passport at reception so we just put it down to it being company policy. The woman at reception didn't appear to be very friendly, welcoming or happy for that matter, we had three issues the whole week and everytime we went to reception this woman acted as though we was an inconvenience. Our first issue was that mine and my boyfriends pillows were as flat as pancakes, so we asked reception for two extra, she looked at us as if we was crazy and questioned us, but we did get extra pillows eventually which did help our nights sleep. The second issue was that our tv did not work at all, so again we went to reception and they told us someone would be there to fix it Monday, Monday came and still no tv so back to reception we went to be told that someone had fixed it, we assured the receptionist no one had fixed the tv and on the Tuesday the tv did eventually work.... for 2 days only! Then it packed up again, but we didn't complain as we was going home Friday, so that was annoying that we missed out on five days of tv. The third issue was that our kettle broke, but it did get replaced fairly quickly. The ants were very annoying, but there's not a lot that could of been done, its too be expected in a foreign country, we just had to mop the floor with disinfectant every other day and we also bought one of those insect repellent candles from the mini market. The room itself was very nice, spacious and tidy with a lovely balcony, I was very impressed with the wardobe, its bigger than the one I have at home lol. So you don't need to worry about space as there is plenty of it, only other thing I could really moan about is the beds, it was like lying on a concrete slab, but you do get used to it, so on the whole the room was fine. There is a lot of stray dogs and cats along the main strip, but yet again that's to be expected in foreign countries as they don't seem to value animals the way we do. Overall the hotel was lovely and alykanas itself is a beautiful part of zante and would deffinately go back there again , well suited for families and couples with plenty of excursions to choose from, plenty of tasty restaurants to eat in and plenty of little gift shops and supermarkets. 10/10 :-)
we stayed 3rd may 2013 til 10th 2013, the rooms are very clean and spacious, some reviews say you exchange your passport for the tv remote, this is not true at all, you have to leave your passport when checking in for just a few hours and they give you the remote control. the room safe is 25 euros for 1 week which we never had a problem but that doesnt mean no one else will. As for the reports of dogs we never saw any of the said dogs around the hotel or pool area.i found rthe reception staff to be very pleasent when i have spoken to them ,also the snack bar we thought the food was very nice indeed. this has been my 16th thomson holiday and i must say that the reps on this one have been the very best of them all.very helpfull and really nice to talk with too, always helpfull and very smiley. wer went on the simply zante day trip which is a good trip, was tired by the end though, stop off at an olive oil grove where you see where olive oils made and you can also buy some. also our guide a english man named trevor is very informative and really know his stuff doesnt stop talking all day but like i said knows his stuff and you have a history lesson about the island aswell. we did find we had quite alot of ants in our room but you can buy spray from the shop for a cpl euro and they never came in again. be wary make sure you put enough sun screen on cos even when its cloudy and windy that seem to be the worst time to get burnt as i did haha, but my own fault. the on site shop is just like any other resort shop wherever you stay the prices arnt too bad only thing i do not like is i could never seem to find fresh milk its always thje uht stuff and makes your coffee taste nasty but thats just a small thing and probs the only thing i didnt like about our holiday. oh i will say that we had the 2nd floor which is great but lugging 2 x 20kilo suitcases up 4 flights of stairs in the red hot sun wasnt too great i was knackered. but i will deffo be coming back here again its a very nice clean resort with friendly reps and staff.
