Flight on way over was delayed by two hours due to head wind. We have the platinum service which means you get checked in on the coach and four a la cartes booked for you - AND THATS ALL. The hotel was ok room smelt damp not sure if due to air conditioning or humidity. We had a meal in the buffett which was like a free for all, tables left with dirty plates not cleared thought it may be a one off until breakfast the next day. Went to meeting told us about this that and the other. Breakfast was the same as night before. We went an booked up a la cartes and bistro for remainder of holiday for evening meals which Im glad I did as coming back in the evenings past the buffett there were queues at 8.30 for dinner too many guests for the staff to cope with. If you didnt get into breakfast between 7.30-8am then you have to wait for tables to be cleared. Thomsons flight on way back was awful they had run out of stuff on flight on way over duty free limited really not good enough. Will never travel with Thomsons again certainly not a 5 star according to Thomson more like a 3+-4 which you need to specifiy. Plus the cost of holiday was 1200 dearer than Thomas Cook. Thomson need to sought this resort out and soon it would be a lovely place if you can get the staff issues sorted
We had an amazing honeymoon at this hotel. We travelled with Thomson and the experience was very relaxing even to the detail that we were all checked in for the hotel on the coach ride from the airport so no waiting around to do this on arrival at the hotel where we were given champagne on arrival and taken to our apartment by one of the many buggies that are about the hotel 24 hours a day. The food was excellent with 6 restaurants and 2 buffets (some on a cook whilst you wait basis which was excellent) to choose from along with a burger hut, fish and chip hut and the Garden bar which has a range of snacks, drinks and cocktails (bahama mamas & Mojito's a must) were in abundance, staff were all friendly and couldn't do enough for you. We will definitely be returning to this hotel it is a magical place.
Just back from our first visit to Cuba staying at the Playa Pesquero but will not be our last. A fit couple in our sixties so very able to walk around this small village ( a good 1.5 mile walk the circumference) but for those less active there are many buggies to take you around.Fantastic beach where we were always able to find a sunbed and shade which also applied to the pool.Only twice in the 3 weeks we were there was the sea rough otherwise it was like a pond and children of all ages ( 2- 82 )were having a great time paddling.snorkelling,canoeing,etc.The service was always good to excellent but for two occasions when it was indifferent but we all have off days (just trying to be tatally honest). As you will hear from the staff many times should you go ENJOY and that's exactly what we did from a cocktail at sunset to an early mornong walk as the sun came up on another glorious day. We found all the restaurants to be of a high standard so it's a matter of choice, do I want to be waited on in one of the a la carte restaurants or shall I take a visit to the buffet. The evening entertainment is good with some acts being top notch, but for us a bit on the loud side on occasions. The Gala Night on Christmas Eve was outstanding from the buffet to the exceptional entertainment.DO NOT TAKE YOU SAT NAV WITH YOU AS IT WILL BE TAKEN AT CUSTOMS AND YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR IT'S RETURN. OURS WAS IN OUR HAND LUGGAGE AND WAS DETECTED AND COST 51 CUC (£34) FOR IT'S RETURN.
The location of the resort on the beach was lovely. Fantastic beach and gently sloping into sea. The staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you. The food was ok but always seemed to go cold very quickly. Best A la Carte restaurant was the Romantica. Very Nice. I am a wheelchair user and found the resort very wheelchair friendly. The only thing we had a problem with was the size of the resort. It is huge, and we generally go for small and quiet resorts, so it took a bit of getting used to. Lots of families and mostly Brits and French Canadians. It was just a bit too noisy for us, but there was entertainment on every night and a nightclub if you like that sort of thing. We only went on one excursion and that was the fantastica and swimming with the dolphins. It was amazing. I had loads of help to achieve my dream and would recommend it for everyone.
