Having just spent two weeks at the Sunset Beach Resort and Waterpark, we have come back feeling fully refreshed. Very helpful staff on reception and lovely people serving in the restaurants. Food really good especially the Asian Restaurant. The International Buffet was lovely just a perhaps a little more variety needed on some nights. We stayed in the East Wing overlooking the gardens where Weddings which seem to happen daily. Rooms basic but very comfortable. Resort being right on the beach meant great easy access to vary your days from beach to pool. The nightly entertainment needs a little enhencement. The steel drum band were amazing and I would highly recommend they appear more than one night a week. The resident band are good but very repitive. Disco doesn't start till 11pm so for some of us, after a day in the sun from 7am, we were in bed before the disco started. We travelled with five teenages and they did start to get a little bored after 10 days as not enough to do. However, there is a gym, limited water sports, two pools, snooker tables and table tennis. Can't always suit teenages can you! We went on the Cool Runnings Trip which was fantastic, not cheap but worth the money. Travelled to Ochios Rios and boarded the Catamaran and then went snorkelling in the ocean, followed by a trip to the Dunns River Falls - a real must. My daughter and boyfriend went on a shopping trip mixed with the Dunns River Falls. They felt a little intimated on the shopping trip as they were followed constantly being urged to spend money. Camera men around the resort very pushy but they do take lovely pictures. I bought 20 7x5 pictures before I left and got 2 8x6 FREE for a cost of $17500 Jamaican Dollars. You can book a 30 minute free session with a photographer to take pictures of you and you family. Plenty of little craft stalls pop up around the resort over the week. You can get the prices down by a lot, just keep bartaring. Just a couple of things to feed back on Thompson Airlines - When an individual orders a Diabetic Meal there is NEVER any artifical sweetner for the hot drinks. Also on a 10hr flight the drinks trolley only came round twice with a four hour gap in between serving. On the return 8.5hr flight, the drinks trolley only came round once. Drinks need to be served more often on long haul flights. Overall though a super holiday, will certainly travel to the West Indies again and will book with Thompson.

If you want to do sunfish sailing do not book this resort. There are no sailing boats. There is only one kayak which is on its last legs and 2 pedaloes which are also on their last legs and will be lucky to last the season.

just came back from jamica on the 31 jan 2011 had a lovely time in jamica hotel sunset beach was good friendly staff felt disappointed where the english got put we were shoved in the gardens wey out off it if we wanted a drink we had to walk a fair way to go and the bars all shut by 1 oclock so nothing to do if you wanted to stop out and have a few more rums and cokes. FOOD they cater more for the americans then the english the food was cold where people dont close the lids back down when they have helped there selfs. there is no organsation where food is done waiting around to fill up so your food you have just got is cold. CLEANING the cleaness was spot on they were always clening and the maids were very plesent and spoke and were helpful. TRIPS went on the cool running/dunns falls this was a brillant day out well recomend it and we went on the trip to the the appleton tour where you go and see the crocs then go to ys falls and finish off ot the rum factory good trips but you pay 4 it but dinner was not included which i felt dissapointed with this one.So my review of this hotal is FOOD rubbish hotel lovely could do with up dating

From the moment we arrived hotel staff were there to give help and advice. The room had everythings that was needed and the view was fantastic. Location of the hotel was a little out of montego bay however there was free transport in the evening and shopping trips each day. The food was excellent, and the speciality restaurants were really good, there was no need to go out to eat as there was always enough choice. This hotel was good for any age as there were lots of different things to do. There is a good choice of trips however they were a little pricey although we spent no money at the hotel so this compensated. I did not want to leave and would go back tomorrow.

This was our 1st visit to the Carribean.Was a total of 13 of us in our group.My husband i with our 3 children aged 5,11 15.My sister her hubby 4 children aged 7,12,1415.Then our Mother Step-father. 1st impressions were great,after a 9hr flight being greeted at the entrance with a cool drink flannel. Our baggage was taken by the porter to our room.Our room was ideal,ground level positioned in the west wing with the pool outside our front door the Beach on our left just about 60 metre walk from our patio door across the grass so fab for both beach pool.Staff were very polite helpful.The Bella Vita restaurant on he complex was lovely and the food was gorgeous. the Waiters in the Buffet restaurant were very helpful especiallly with the children, asking them if they were ok needed anything.The food in the buffet restaurant has a Pasta station 2 Carved Meat stations,Salads plus Jamaican Daily themes like chinese stir frys Kids area which mainly consisted of Chicken Nuggets,Chips Sausages.Desserts were plentiful Beautiful.If nothing took your fancy there was the Grill Bar serving Cheese Toastys,Jerk Chicken,Chicken Burgers,Cheeseburgers or Hotdogs so was something for everyone. If u plan on doing any trips the Cool Runnings is good U travel by bus to a small beach have lunch then go on a Catamaran to Dunns River Falls. Then back on the Boat for a bit of a party.Then back to the beach onto the bus home.Dolphin cove is a must for Dolphin enthusiasts,u can opt for Dolphin Cove Dunns River the same day but we were told by our rep it can be a little rushed and families we met there doing both the same day did say this . All the Restaurants Bars in the Hotel were clean the Gardens were very well kept with the gardeners out every day.Housekeeping came every Day.All our children were kept entertained with the various activities,there is a kids Club but our children preferred to be in one of the pools or on the Beach playing Volleyball.All the children liked going to the Bar and having a chat with the Staff,Craig Chris Dionne was a favourite with the kids.This is a lovely place we dream of going back again soon. Evening Entertainment is ok,the Steel Band on Beach Party Night on Tuesdays is fantastic. I am trying to find a negative about this Hotel but i cant,overall a clean, tidy,friendly place.The Sea is like a Bath i was paddling in it before 7am.We have been truley spoilt.Would i recommend it?Yes definatley!!
