Salou as a resort is tired and a bit tatty. There are dirty unused hotels around although there are some parts that look still nice. The hotel is well placed to get into town or the beach. The hotel is probably the smallest Thomson family resort we have been to and we have been to several. This one although spotlessly clean was not the best one by far. Saying that our son had a blast, the Thomsons entertainers (there were 3 of them) and kids club reps ( 4/5 of them) worked tirelessly to ensure the kids had a good time. He is desperate to go back next year! Overall it was excellent value for money, the food was fine the hotel was clean and happy children make happy adults......
Having always only gone on self catering, self-arranged, and couples holidays previously, we were a bit apprehensive about booking a holiday package with Holiday Company, but the whole experience from the booking to the actual holiday was overall excellent. We visited Salou, staying in Golden Avenida, with our 2year old daughter May 2013. Salou is an excellent family resort with beautiful beaches and all amenities you would need for a enjoyable family holiday. We stayed all inclusive at the Golden Avenida and I can only say that this really made our holiday. Everyone from the room attendants, to bar, restaurant and reception staff were amazing and the friendliest and most helpful I have come across. The hotel itself was very well equipped and clean, with access to laundry facilities, towel hire, indoor heated pools and Jacuzzi as well as outdoor pools for adult and child enjoyment, child creche, parent and baby room, kids club etc. etc. Honestly, almost anything you could ask for a relaxing and stress free holiday was available, and if not staff arranged for it to be accessible. Food was buffet style, and was varied each day with ample choice and lots of it. My only complaint would be that you may tend to eat too much.....but maybe that's just me!! I was glad we were all inclusive as working it out financially when we got back, when you average the cost of Breakfast, lunch, dinner, picnics we ordered, bar snacks and drinks, soft and alcohol, it works out very cheap having AI package. To upgrade from SC to Inclusive at hotel is 39euros pp per day, so much cheaper to book as part of you package. The Thomson crew at the hotel were excellent and entertainment was inclusive, as well as been fun, varied and at time crazy! If you have lil ones 0-2yrs old, creche is available most days at a cost of 11 euros for 2hr sessions. Creche staff were excellent and facilities were great and they undertake a variety of activities from face-painting, soft play, interactive and group works, storytelling etc. Our little girl loved it and after first session wanted to go back and we were given all her art work and activity pack to take home with us. Most of the Kids club activities were free and all looked fantastic. Though our LOL was too young to partake this year, we went to see the Kids Club area which was fantastic and also very well equipped for the kids of the varied age ranges. I really can't fault this holiday and we hope to return again
