Sant Agnello is just outside Sorrento, about 15min. walk. The Hotel Majestic Palace is on quite a busy narrow road, but once inside the grounds of the hotel tranquility takes over. Lots of helpful staff, a good four course meal every evening and a really friendly atmosphere. Our room was very spacious with lovely views from the balcony over the orange and lemon grove in the grounds of the hotel, and views over the hillside dotted with small hotels and villas, no skyscraper hotels! To the side of the balcony, views across the Bay of Naples. At the end of the road a small bar/restaurant with stunning views over the bay. In Sorrento lots to see and do, shop till you drop ! Lots of little alleyways packed with restaurants too. We took a Thompson trip by boat to Amalfi via Capri and Positano, well worth it. Also a day trip to Versuvius. This was excellent, up to the top of the volcano, then down to a vineyard for lunch with wine tasting. Only trouble with both trips was that the pick up times were late, both due to traffic in Sorrento, any accident there backs up traffic for hours as there is no way around the town. Would recommend this hotel and area to anyone, but remember there are only a few small beaches reached by lots of steps and usually private and with jettys for sunbathing and swimming from. But a very relaxing holiday in a beautiful country

Beautiful town which we used as a base for excursions to the Amalfi Coast, Pompei and Paesteum. Stayed at the Hotel Girasole which was described as 'small and friendly' and was exactly that, being B&B it gave us a great chance to try out the various restaurants in town. Food and wine was great and good value for money, the people watching on the Corso Italia in the evening being one of our many highlights. Would highly recommend a visit.

The Hotel Florida was very good in all respects with friendly helpful staff. A pity it is so far from the centre of Sorrento with unreliable public transport. You really need to be able to walk without any problem (15 to 20 mins from Sorrento centre) and be able to tackle the busy roads. The local beach may be a five minute walk away by road, but then you need to take a long descent or a lift down to the bottom of the very steep cliffs to a small cove and sunbathing platforms. The hotel pool is a far better option. Never really found a resort centre 200m away, just a few scattered shops and bars hence the necessity to go into Sorrento centre for entertainment, shopping ,etc.

We stayed at the Hotel Due Golfi in August 2012 having been married in Sorrento in 2010 we decided to stay in the town of Sant Agata on this trip as we had visited it when we stayed in Sorrento previously - we weren't disappointed! The views from the hotel were amazing and it was well worth paying a little extra for the sea view room. The hotel staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The town of Sant Agata was just a 7 minute walk away with a handful of bars and restaurants, it has an easy, relaxed nightlife with locals bars and the prices for food and drinks were very reasonable. The hotel courtesy bus was a great addition to the services provided by the hotel and ran at 6 or 7 times a day and on an evening after dinner returning you back to the hotel around 11.30pm .The local bus taking you into Sorrento or Amalfi, Positano and most of the smaller towns around Sorrento was easy to use and stopped right outside of the hotel. The hotel rooms were clean and well kept if slightly on the small side but that wasn't an issue as you tend to spend most of your time out and about or on your balcony taking in the views of Sorrento and the Bay of Naples including Vesuvius. The food in the hotel was more than acceptable with plenty choice for breakfast and three choices per course for an evening meal. All in all we would certainly return to this hotel again and would recommend it to other travellers as an option. It is about 7 km above Sorrento but, as before, this wasn't an issue because it was easily accessed using the courtesy or local bus. The hotel has a classy bar with great views and an intimate pool area with a quiet atmosphere which was well maintained and to the side of the property. We had a great experience here and having stayed in central Sorrento in a 5 star hotel before would have no hesitation in returning to the resort or The Hotel Due Golfi.
