This is the second time within 12 months we have stayed at Lopesan Baobab. It is a hotel very suitable to families and couples. The staff are most helpful and efficient. Everywhere is spotless and the food is extremely good and very well presented. We did miss the hot puddings at lunchtime and I pointed this out to the chef who also thought it was a shame it is no longer available. Please reinstate it! My other small gripe is that on cool evenings such as in March the general areas and bars are very chilly. The heaters on the deck of the dining area are excellent and it would make such a difference to add them to the bar deck above also. A nice big roaring fire which could even be gas run would make such a focal point and warm area in the reception bar. I have seen these in America in large hotels and they are so welcoming. Overall I have very little to complain about regarding the Lopesan Boabab. Unfortunately the Thomson flight returning to Birmingham was spoilt by the stewardess requesting my husband and I to move to inside seats when we had booked and paid for the seats we were in. We refused to much annoyance to the stewardess. This isn't right - they should realise you have paid extra to book the seats you require and we specifically wanted aisle seats. We do like this hotel and would consider going again especially as my Grandson was very miffed that we didn't take him with us the second visit. At 6years of age his comment from when we went last time was The best holiday of my life. Can't get better than that for a review of this hotel.

Stayed at the Riu Palace Maspalomas 15 years ago on honeymoon, went back last week, stayed 7 days, still fantastic! Waiters so attentive, food out of this world, location excellent. Only dissapointment was the lack of legroom on the flight, it is like being in your coffin! It was 25 euro to upgrade to extra legroom, Jet 2 is only £7.99! Would go back tomorrow, already looking to book for October!

" We are sorry to hear of your disappointment with your Thomson flights. The aircraft that operates this route has a standard seat pitch of 28¿ however there are extra leg room seats available which customers can pre-book for an additional charge to tailor their flight experience. It is worth sharing that the British Air Transport Association data demonstrates that our seat pitch is more or less in line with our charter competitors. It may also be worth noting, that our long haul flights have a standard seat pitch of 33¿ which is actually better than all of our competitors. "

i have just arrived back yesterday for a 1 week holiday to the maspalomas princess hotel in gran canaria. this hotel is beautiful and is exactly as thomsons describe it on there website. we opted to go half board and this was perfect for us as we didn't take our children with us on this occasion, however if you are taking children then i reccomend you go fully inclusive as drinks, snacks, magazines etc are VERY VERY expensive. eg:- daily mirror newspaper is 2 euro 120ml bottle of coke/fanta/sprite etc is 2.20 euro each! chips 1.80 euro burger 3.60!!! these are in hotel costs but it's just as expensive whereever you go. we visited palmitos park, this was an ok "zoo" which mostly featured parrots!!! and was not worth the 22 euros each we paid for entry to the park plus buses have to be paid for this was 2 euros per person each way...total cost of trip 52 euros for 2 adults + gift shop spends we also went for a ride on a camel, this was down on the beach and was extremly good value at 12 euro per adult or 8 euro per child under 12 foe a half hour ride & petting the camels. they take 1-2 photos of you which you can buy after your ride for 5 euros each and they come in there own presentation slip. we also went on a "PAL free blanket trip" this ment we had to sit through a 2 hour presentation about meranio wool which was tedious but worth it for the free trip up into the mountains to see the caves where people still live to this very day. i would say though that the blankets being sold are vastly overpriced and the exact same kingsize matress, king size blanket, 2 pillows, mattress cover and 2 single wool blankets which were being offered for sale buy this company for #1199 the set i have found on a uk website for #390 including vat & delivery etc so don't get ripped off by these people. they talk the talk and do a very good sales pitch which fooled many many people into buying there product at there rip off prices!!! thankfully i am happy to say i was not one of those idiots who were fooled by the pitch. reps were very helpful at the hotel, airport and on the transfers busses...got a problem, talk to your rep and they were always happy to help you out. men be warned - you are not allowed to wear shorts, cropped trousers etc to dinner - full length trousers only otherwise you will be refused entry into the restaurant!!!! this is very annoying when you have qued for 30 minutes!!!!
