I will start by saying we loved our holiday and are going back next year....... but please read on..Our review will depend on your expectations but in the end we loved it. On arriving at our destination we were very nervous and to be honest all that went through my head was the inbetweeners movie !! I booked this holiday and was reassured by thomson on booking that i had a very lively 3 year old and was looking for something mainly for him. I was told there was loads going on at this hotel and there was a children s playground. This was a disused patch of grass that was overgrown and there was no way he was anywhere near the two items that were situated here!! I instantly asked to be moved to another hotel and our rep suggested argassi. after listening to our concerns our patronising rep told us this is greece and if we wanted to go back to spain we shouldnt compare it to greece as it is 20 years behind! Actually we have never been to spain . He also told us argassi were more lively and after calming down was relieved we never moved as later in our holiday we met lots of people who were staying there who were spending their evenings in kalamaki and argassi had basically shut down. I do have to say here that after i had chilled out a bit the hotel and its staff were brilliant and it was not their fault thomson rated this as a family lively hotel. . The staff all knew were not very happy but still went out of their way to accommodate us . Have to mention the lovely guy on reception who most nights escorted to the room a bit worse for wear each night. Also Ernie who worked on the bar, we also bumped into him around the resort and he welcomed us to join him he was a great bloke and our little boy loved him. As for the resort itself. we loved it. We found that that most bars were pool bars which we had not come across before. We fund a brilliant bar called Antonis pool bar and booked this for next year before we left. Have never met such a lovely bunch of people. The brothers behind the bar were great and welcomed us as did the rest of their family . The people who were staying here have also booked up for next year already and some of them have been staying here for years. The pool was gorgeous and food was brill a great choice and believe me i have one fussy husband and 3 year old. could get our breakfast here snacks an main meals. They also have great night life greek nights kareokee and live singers. excellent! lively but child friendly beach 5 min and gorg

Initially when we went into the reception at Meandros hotel we were impressed , but when you looked beyond that you began to notice that it had its down falls , poor decoration , damp on walls in upstairs apartments along with a fusty damp smell in the cupboards and wardrobes , our taps in the bath did not work properly we had to fill the bath with the shower head , we had to run the water for 10 min before it became warm , the air con was very noisy and didnt appear to work properly so we didnt use it , we were impressed with the staff they were brilliant and very helpfull , the maids were in our room every day with clean towels and emptying the bins , making beds and just keeping the room tidy which we thought was great , the food in the restaraunt was varied and excellent , in all we did had a great holiday and would definatly visit Kalamaki again.

Just returned from a 2 week stay at the Meandros, we stayed here 2yrs ago when it was fresh and tidy now we feel its a little tired .The rooms are the same ie the decor and the soft furnishings ,the rooms are big with plenty of space and the kitchenette is handy if you fancy a snack. The food is ok in the evening but seems to repeat itself quite alot (pork).Breakfast is a bit of a pain if you fancy Bacon & Eggs because now you have to queue and if you are at the back you could be stood there for 20-30 mins while the chef cooks it.The bar is good and Ernie the barman is great nothing is to much trouble, the bar prices are double what you pay in town so we found it better to go out and about. If you fancy a good steak try Zepos its 5 mins from the hotel down near the beach you can get a great Rib Steak for 10 euros (its big)a meal for 2 comes to around 30 euros with wine.If you fancy just chillin out try Oceanic Bar 2 mins from hotel and if you like Gyros try Georgios or Tazies they are about the best.Overall we had great holiday at the Meandros and all the staff are great and helpfull its a shame its the little things that people notice and we werent the only ones, the hole resort is looking tired,we all know Greece is in trouble but you would think they would sort out the resorts, it is their main scource of income.

Got the Kalamaki blues - because we found the resort at the time we went (early October) refreshingly quiet but still alive!

Although Kalamaki is slightly run down it still has some very good Bars/Resteraunts shops on offer.

Outstanding beach and scenery.

Some good excursions are available but not when we stayed i.e end of season.

Meandros Hotel very good - clean and spacious apartment - staff very freindly - pool and area very clean - exceptional food!

Definitely go again!
