We stayed at the Polynesia in June this year and will definitely be returning. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are spacious and there is a wide variety of food including salads, fresh fruit and vegetables. The hotel downsides for me were firstly that not everything that I had anticipated was included. I think it's a bit much to charge for bottled water, milk and expresso coffee at an all-inclusive hotel. Secondly the room was not as clean as I would have expected. Although the room was mostly clean on arrival the floor was dirty and the remainder of the room did seem to be cleaned much during our stay. The hotel has use of the beach club which is perfect for children. There is a kids pool at the top of the complex accesible by either lift or a slope so is perfect for pushchairs. My only concerns with the beach club were firstly that the wave pool is challenging even for strong swimmers and although there are three life guards watching the pool at all times there really should be warnings signs too. Secondly although food is included at the Beach club this must be eaten at the restuarant during lunch time hours which doesn't always fit with young children and it must be booked the previous day. If you want to guarantee lunch you must book early in the day.

We stayed at the Hotel Polynesia from 18th May 2010 for 1 week and generally had a lovely holiday. We did have some concerns which I will go in to later in the review. We started out from Manchester Airport and had a very good experience of check in, passport control and flight to Malaga Airport. My only comment is that thompson should ensure all passengers are aware that they will not accept any baggage which is heavier than 23kg even if it is within your over all weight limit. This resulted in quite a few passangers having to balance their cases at check in, which is quite embarrassing. Our experience at Malaga was also positive. Both the staff at Thompson and first choice were excellent and soon had us on our coach and heading to the hotel. We were given our forms to fill out to speed up check in, which was useful and did make check in easier. We arrived at the hotel to no greeting at all from a rep of any kind. This was after dropping off at the holiday village were 4 first choice reps greeted their guests, along with Bob the Builder for the kids. We had nothing which left the children confused and upset. We then had to figure out the whole check in experience ourselves. We eventually proceeded through check in and found that we needed to leave a swipe of a credit card as deposit for the towels and TV remote. Those guests without credit cards went without towels and without a TV remote. Again this is something which needs to be made aware to guests prior to travelling to allow guests to bring their own towels etc. Hotel is beautiful from a design point of view. The lifts are not the biggest but there are 7 of them. The rooms are very well designed, but some of the finishes look to have been a little rushed. Paint splashes on the bath and furniture etc which has never been cleaned off. Do not push the button in on the tap over the bath. This stops the water flow and you need reception to fix the problem. Be careful if you have young children who like to climb. Windows open fully without restrictors. They could easily fall out, even on the higher floors. The food was pretty good with quite a good variety, especially at breakfast and evening meal. Bear in mind that the slushes and expresso coffee are not included in the all inclusive. They are extra. Wife had food poisioning after eating prawns, so beware. The beech club is very good. The wave pool is great but not for kids!! Kids pool at the hotel is up a big ramp, not good for prams!!

THIS HOTEL WAS GREAT, CLEAN GREAT STAFF RESTUARANT FOOD GOOD, 2 PROBLEMS FOOD AT POOLSIDE WAS NEVER CHECKED FOR TEMPERATURE ETC JUST LEFT TO GO COLD AND NOT REPLACED UNTIL USED, AND CHILDRENS ENTERTAINMENT FINISHED AROUND 6.15PM, UNTIL THE LAST NIGHT WE WERE THERE, WHEN THERE WAS A FAMILY DISCO FROM 8 TILL 9, I FEEL THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON EVERYNIGHT. I DON'T THINK THOMSONS HAVE MUCH SAY IN THE ACTIVITIES AND IT SHOWS.

" Thank your for your review. We are currently in the process of reviewing the entertainment at this hotel, as there are high expectations to our customers. The entertainment at this particular hotel is run by the hotel Animation team, rather than Thomson/First Choice. We have implemented afew changes as the mini disco was quite early at 18:00 with the day time staff before they finished, this has now been moved to a family disco with the evening entertainment staff. Food here is improving and the hotel is very reactive to feedback we give them. Thank you for taking the time to pass back your valued comments. "

We'll go again.....

Just returned from our holiday which was very enjoyable. We went on the understanding that this wasn't a couples hotel but a family based one. We certainly weren't disappointed. Hotel is very impressive visually and was spotlessly clean at all times. Food was of a high standard and my Son aged 7 tried foods that he hadnt before,we were only there for 1 week so food didn't get repetative but could do for longer stays. He enjoyed going to the kids club and the staff that looked after them were all friendly and caring and had a sense of wanting to be there rather than just a job. We picked a good week for weather and also enough children and people around without it feeling too busy, our last day was when the UK half term holidays started and the spanish children broke up and boy did we see a change, for the first time we had to wait for queue for the bus, restaurants etc so I imagine it would be very busy. We also went knowing that we wouldnt venture out of the hotel as it had everything there that we need so the location didn't really matter to us, the last thing on a 7 day holiday with a 7 year old was to drag him in the heat around places that he wouldn't appreciate and enjoy. This holiday was for quality family time revolved around us all enjoying it, which we certainly did. My only gripe was that we went all inclusive and didn't arrive until 11.30pm on Sunday so therefore missed that days food etc and on our day of departure the coach picked us up at 8.10pm but the all inclusive finished at 12 noon. We therfore had to buy lunch drinks and evening meal which seemed a bit unfair. We also booked this over a year before travelling when the travel brochure came out and saw the holiday price drop by a massive #600, which was annoying, we will certainly think twice about booking that early again. On the whole a really enjoyable holiday the we will repeat again.
