We arrived at Efem Apartments early evening to be greeted by Hakan, Frucan and Sedat. Everyone was so welcoming we felt at home straight away. Chef's papilion pizza, caesar salad was wonderful and the drinks and glasses straight out of the fridge. That set the pace for the week holiday, at 43C most days, chilled glasses, beer and good company were fantastic. You do not need to cook - a fantastic chef's breakfast at 7.5L and it was excellent - well done chef! The rooms were excellent, we had a large two bedroom apartments, and it was spotless with fresh towels most days and cleaning every other day. The views of the mountain were lovely. The music was turned down around 11pm, so everyone got a wonderful night's sleep. Recommend you pay for aircon locally as it was not less than 32C at night. Hakan and Sedat, Chef, Frucan and Onur made the holiday! We learned so much about things to do and where to go. One of the children had an accident on holiday and the staff were lovely, helping to take us to the Doctor and then to the hospital. Turunc is worth a visit by boat taxi from the harbour. It is much quieter, with a few bars and smaller shops. Icmeler can be quite noisy with the bars etc at night, and we were glad we stayed slightly out of the centre at Efem. The pool was lovely, clean and the kids loved the slide everyday. There were two nights with entertainment at Efem - a Pool Party which everyone liked, with turkish casserole and dancers and a Turkish night with BBQ and a belly dancer. We went to the Turkish Bath excursion, which was good, but a bit rushed and beware of the added extras on that trip which was disappointing. We complained about that and got a refund. The market was well worth a visit - prepare to have fun and haggle - you must or you will be paying far to much for stuff. Everything from chilli powder to pashminas! The Thomson transfer from the airport took awhile with drop-offs but the holiday-advisor gave us some great useful information and was very informative. Well worth the transfer cost at 18 each. Icmeler main beach was very overcrowded at times, so we went right round the bay to the left and there are some loungers there, it was much cleaner, quieter and the water was lovely. and clear. Go to the waterfall and Jesus beach - great to cool off after travelling around. All in all a lovely holiday.

The resort of Icmeler was excellent with a fine selection of restuarants, we enjoy walking so the mile and a bit to the beach was great. The biggest drawback to our holiday was the accommodation, the finish to the decor was poor, the bed was a little unstable, the shower controls were very fiddly, the breadth of a knats leg of a turn on the cold water supply meant either being scalded or frozen! When we arrived, the room was still being cleaned and, the main electrical supply activation point was hanging off the wall, one of the three young men who were generally present on site came up and attempted a repair, but must have used blue tack to stick it back on the wall because, on the first attempt to remove the room key fob which activated the electrical supply, the whole thing came away from the wall again. Room security was was not good, as the outer door handle was very loose on its fixings! On one occasion the door to the shower and toilet became locked, as the mechanism had fallen to pieces, it took some while for one of the young men on site to attend and lever open the door and then fix it. Most of all was the pool bar noise which remained open until five am on some occasions, with disco music blaring out, to the extent that some of the Turkish neighbours were on the point of calling the Police on more than one occasion. The staff I must say were very polite though.
