hotel nereus is a little dated but is great location 10 mins walk from harbour food in hotel very good and staff very helpful. Bus station only 15 mins walk and very cheap way to see local area which is beautiful. Lovely beach in coral bay only 30mins on bus and 1 euro. must try safe swimming areas in harbour.would not hesitate to book here again. to many nice restaurants on harbour front too mention should you want to eat out.

we stayed in the apartments at nereus hotel which are very run down, there wasnt a matching piece of crockery, the toilet bowl had a large crack, and all the enamel on the bath had gone, when we were there it was very wet and all the ants in cyprus took shelter in our apartment. we went on 3 excursions, the jewel of the north, which was far too rushed, we never got chance to view the castle properley let alone go into kyrenia for a coffee, hidden cyprus was our second trip it was a very good day going to places off the beaten track, our third trip was the mystery tour which was a half day and well worth going, we went to paphos three years ago and enjoyed it thats why we returned, we like it quiet which it is at that time of year, the mosaics near the harbour are well worth a visit and there is a good coastal path going from the harbour in the coral bay direction. the restaurant called tea for two is a lovely clean and friendly place to eat any time of day, we went to the one on the front at kato paphos several times, breakfast, lunch and some evenings, there are two more, one in the town and one on tomb of the kings road. we had very good service from our thomson rep at the hotel also the ones at the airport both on arrival and departure and the guides on the excursions were very informative

Paphos - the vast majority of pubs/restaurants/shops are abandoned - not shut for the winter. Everything is very expensive. It can be warm in December when the sun shines but this new year week was very rainy and very cold at night - after 3:30 pm. The harbour walk is interesting but if you aren't interested in old columns and bricks then there's not a lot more.

The hotel Nereus was awful - the small apartment (329) had NO heating, lights didn't work, toaster didn't work, and the bathroom was very dirty. When we called reception to fix some heating the engineer said it was on the wrong setting and to wait for 20 minutes - what a joke (and thats just the engineer, he didnt give a feck) - still no heating after three days. We eventually got an old radiant heater. The bath taps didn't work, the breakfasts were pretty grim and twice my plate was snatched away before I was finished. On new yesrs day we got no breakfast at all as we appeared at 10:10 despite being told breakfast was extended to 10:30.

A lot of the residents were elderly long term stayers and although some were nice and chatty in the main they were surly, pushy, and ignorant.

My advice - never book hotel Nereus - it should be closed!!! Paphos is deadsville in winter.
