My husband and I stayed at the Gran Sol, Cala Bona for a week at the begining of June 2009. The holiday was lovely. The hotel accommodation, pool and food were first class. 12 euros per day for evening meal which was very good value by comparison to the rest of the resort. Although the website mentioned that the hotel was refurbished last year, it was practically rebuilt and it feels brand new. We would definately return to this quiet boutique hotel.

Everything about this hotel is perfect. The little extras like the bathrobe, slippers and bowl of fruit in the bedroom, show how much thought has gone into making your holiday extra special. The views are breathtakingly beautiful. There is no need to leave the hotel as everything you could possibly need is here, including the indoor and outdoor pool. I was pleasantly surprised at the choice of food and drink available all day on the terrace and by the pool. Talking of food, the restaurant has a very wide variety of food. English Breakfasts are served freshley cooked as well as continental. There is such a large choice of desserts that it is very difficult to choose. Cala Bona itself is a lovely quiet place. On the square we listened to some live pan pipes music. We had an enjoyable trip on the glass bottom boat to Porto Cristo, combining a visit to the Caves of Drac. If you want a tranquil holiday, this is definitely the place to be, We went in May. So I don't know if it gets busier in the summer.

Arriving at the Grand Sol we were not sure what to expect and what a great suprise we found.... the first thing that hits you is it cleanleness the hotel as it is kept to an immaculate standard through out. The staff are always helpful and pleasant and tend to all your needs. The holiday offers you a peaceful break as there is no entertainment at the Grand Sol which was exactly what we wanted. We opted for half board and were delighted that we did, as the resturant is of a top standard with an excellent choice from the immaculate buffet. As a family we have stay in many hotels around Europe and we can honestly say that the Grand Sol is as good as it gets

When I arrived at the hotel, I could see the accuracy of the description in the brochure, but what the brochure does not talk about is the welcome drinks on arrival the man to carry your baggage from the coach. The friendly helpful staff at reception. The modern designed interior of the rooms, the fresh flowers, towel robes and matching slippers in the bathroom. The glass balcony opening out on an uninterrupted view of the beach. The buffet breakfasts are to die for, there must be everything you could think of to eat. The evening dining option of 10.00 euros per person is a must as there is a great selection of food, great value for money. The restaurant staff are very attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Definately hire a car for a couple of days and see the rest of the island. There was no entertainment in the hotel but you can go next door to the Levante to see comedians and singers galore.

We stayed here for a week, wished we had booked more. From arriving to departing the staff looked after you completely. I have never stayed at any hotel better than this. We needed relaxation and we got it. The food in the hotel was first class, so after eating around the harbour for our first two nights we tried the hotel meals and went every night until we left. So much choice and cooked to order. Lots of lovely sweets to try at the end of your meal as well. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a slow pace of holiday and much relax time. If you want entertainment which we did not, you can nip next door to the other hotels which supplied this. Hope to return again very very soon. Hotel and rooms spotless and so close to the beach what more could you want.
