This was our second time at the Hotel Gran Sol & was as good as the first, our only issue is that we have to book through Thomson, this hotel is excellent & its a shame they have to use Thomson to guarantee their bookings. Firstly I suggest that Thomson train their staff to know the difference of a sea view room & a balcony room on booking this holiday I must of asked at least 5 times to the Thomson agent at the Bitterne office in Southampton that we wanted a balcony room as this is what we had the 1st visit, so even paying an extra booking fee to guarantee this. On our arrival we were given a Sea view room which was lovely but not what we had stated & Thomson were unable to accommodate the room request we had made.
Hotel was perfect.we had a junior suite-2 sliding doors on large balcony overlooking the sea with lounge chairs as well as table and chairs. We had 2 tv's and comfortable beds. Large bathroom with daily replenished toiletries . Separate living room with tea and coffee, fridge and plenty of closet space and drawers. Small beach but short walk to next town of Cala Mellor had better sandy beaches. Sea was very cold but starting to warm up. Plenty of cafes and restaurants and typical tourists shops. Not a noisey place. Lots of seniors and young families. Hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. Overall we had a great week in fabulous hotel.
Lovely hotel right by the water's edge. Check in was quick and efficient and accompanied by refreshing welcome drinks. The room was very comfortable and even had tea/coffee facicities. The food was plentiful and varied and having a chef on duty, especially at breakfast, was a huge bonus. The gym looked a bit tired and didn't have a rowing machine and the lounge chairs were not comfy. The hotel was kept spotless and the staff were very friendly and courteous.
The hotel was excellent in terms of location, cleanliness, comfort and facilities. The staff were incredibly friendly and the food was fabulous. I have stayed in many hotels around the world and the Gran Sol is up there with the best. Couldn't find any fault and would definitely consider returning.
excellent hotel, staff very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble for them. a pianist in thehotel bar would have created a little more atmosphere, but you could go to the levante hotel for entertainment. It was just a shame the weather wasnt very good . The resort could do with a little face lift but ideal for couples & families. We would use this hotel again as it is ideal for a quick week away. It certainly deserves a 5 star rating as well as excellent food.
