just back from great hol here. cant fault food, friendliness of staff. spramling hotel, feels quiet even though biggest hotel on the isle. need to be able to walk! and no lifts. entertainment fab, starting with yoga on beach, through to activity centre and aqua aerobics. something for everyone. we'll be back! best AI deal 5* we've done. 5 coves, some watersports included.

Just returned after two weeks in paradise.A brilliant holiday the only disappointment was that the main pool was getting refurbished. There is so much food you dont know what to eat.At the grill everything is cooked fresh to order. The only A/I ive been to where you get food and drink 22 hours a day.Plenty restaurants to choose from,e.g steakhouse, italian, mexican, asian etc.In the Negril there is just about every food you can think of,the Miss Lou bar serves premium drinks.Entertainment till 2am, and in the sports bar you can get food from 9 am till 7 am all freshly cooked. All the staff are so friendly thay never pass you by that includes the gardeners, cleaners and security.the resort is patrolled 24/7 and it is absolutely safe to wander the grounds at any time.If you go into the Negril to eat the the staff are brilliant they treat you like royalty, keep a special look out for Kenneil,Ricardo and Damian B. they are so pleasant its unbelievable and they run after you the minute they see you.If you are down at the beach the waiters come down to serve you so you dont have to go up and down to the bar.this was truly the holiday of a lifetime and i am definetley going back next year if only to get spoiled again.

We booked this expecting a very high standard, rather than booking somewhere closer to a resort but a little lower standard. Unfortunately I cant help feeling disappointed. Undoubtedly the weather played a huge part. It tended to rain from 1 4pm each day and when this happened there wasnt a lot to do at this resort resulting in a very boring holiday. The plane was from First Choice and not Thomson and to be honest it seemed to show. We were lumbered with a vegetarian meal on the outbound flight (apparently 5% of all meals are, Im sure Thomson used to let you order when booking) and the in-flight entertainment system wouldnt work on the return journey which is a pain on a ten hour flight. The staff seemed a little stressed and as a result slightly unhelpful. Understaffed perhaps? We didnt go premium but others we spoke to were very disappointed with this. The room was quite nice but nothing special just similar compared to that previously encountered in Cancun. It wasnt filthy but could have done with a better clean, especially in the bathroom. The staff were a mixed bunch. Some helpful and some not. The food in the hotel was variable. Sometimes pretty good sometimes freezing cold. Most of the restaurants, had lots of flies present. They were crawling on the bread and cold foods. There was no apparent means of controlling these. We were ill for two days towards the start of the holiday, cant be certain it was the food or not. The Casino was a bit of a joke. More a room with slot machines and a bar at the back. However we did enjoy it in there due to boredom elsewhere. The alacarte restaurants were mixed. We went to all except the Creole. The Italian served cold food quite often according to our findings and speaking to other guests. The Indian served chicken bones rather than any real chicken. The Steakhouse was good and as a result had extensive queues quite a lot of the time. The Mexican was excellent. As per other reports there were large areas of tiles missing from the pool and at least one person cut his hand as a result. The lager was Real Rock a local brew. It tasted quite nice from most bars except the main bar where it was consistently flat and miscoloured. Despite reporting this more than once it continued like this for two weeks. Champagne or sparkling wine was served at all bars which was a nice bonus. The locals outside of the resort were positively rude when asking for tips.

The accommodation was the best, although we were in a junior suite we upgraded 2 categories to a bungalow to be facing the sea and to have extra luxury for which they charged a further 80 dollars US per night. The food was well below 5 star. It was very repetitive and of poor quality, additionally we suffered from stomach problems which we thought were either due to recycling food or the cooking oil. The restaurants as listed within the holiday description were not all available and were closed "at will", on one particular evening only one of the buffet and two of the gourmet were available. The night club was not open at all during our stay. We fully appreciate that the hotel was far from full but we booked on the basis of the overall brochure description. The complex was always under repair, roads, walkways are potholed and repair crews are also dealing with several broken water mains due to these collapses. In our opinion the general build quality of the complex is poor and several people commented on this. We feel somewhat let down with our selection, hopefully this report will assist in reviewing your grading of this hotel.

Let me start by saying we had a great lazy holiday. This hotel resort is not in Montego Bay its in Lucea, an expensive taxi ride away and it is a long way off being its claimed 5*, it has a snagging list as big as the resort and its vast. There were about 200 guests when we stayed so it was lacking in atmosphere and the entertainments programme was poor. A big effort was being made on bringing the grounds up to standard. The rooms are lovely and ours was kept very clean, they just haven't been finished off properly to get its 5*. The spa is still under construction but parts are useable and the treatments we had were very professional. The pools have been poorly finished with tiles missing and the spas not working. The sun lounge areas are well furnished but not cleaned on a daily basis so already are starting to look scruffy. The buffet restaurant could only serve one temperature of food (cold). The themed restaurants had a good choice but the quality of food varied not only from restaurant to restaurant but lacked consistency by dish and from evening to evening, the best in our view being the Lotus House followed closely by the creole restaurant. Service was either excellent or poor but generally improving. The casino opened the night before we left but we found the bars and the bar service generally excellent with a good range of styles ( but there were barely any guests there so it should have been). We had some fabulous days at Sunset cove and lovely late afternoons and evening sunsets at Coral beach. We had some fabulous fun nights in the Sports Bar where Scott and Jovann provided excellent service as did Richard with his card tricks in Miss Lou's bar. Overall lots to improve but lots to enjoy and reasonable value for money. We would go again and loved Jamaica.
