I have just got back from a 2 week stay here with a friend his mum, the hotel was better than I thought. The only problem with the hotel was there was entertainment only once a week on Thursday which was karaoke not that's problem it should have more entertainment the food wasn't too bad. The other thing was their was no mention that you didn't get any money back for using the safe deposit box in the room. The beach is a bit of a walk to get depending on which directions you take if you use Denise supermarket on the strip you can good laugh and a joke with the gentleman on the till and the restaurants are reasonable priced up on the strip Heavens kitchen and Mermaids is value for money and quite size-able dishes for your money, the Rose 'n' Crown British Pub is a good visit with bingo three times a week and happy hour and more I would return the area not sure if would this hotel. As for the staff I Denis quite pleasure and accommodating, As for Maria maybe a of confusion with her was both work quite hard they are both up till quite late and both are up early-ish and Maria behind the bar doing both the food and drinks by herself for all the guests from eight in the morning until the early evening. True the excursions are pricey through the rep there is a company up on the strip which you can get good deals for excursions...........

What a wonderful holiday, made welcome by Dennis and Maria from the day we arrived. The apartments are spotlessly clean as is the whole complex. The staff are very friendly, Ellen does the best English breakfast - Brad a cocktail star! Very relaxing surroundings which gave the opportunity to make new friends.5 minute walk to a beautiful beach with easy access to food and drink.plenty of loverly places to eat in the evenings again only 5 minutes walk up the road.We would like to thank Dennis and Maria and all the staff for one of the best holidays we have ever had!planning to return again next year....hope to meet you all again soon.

The whole holiday was a let down from the start. Thompson advised us of this area as a fairly livelly town with good entertainment, food and a livelly town not far away. Athough requested a bottom room floor, the hotel did not know of this request from Thompson and were not able to give us another room, despite finding out later they had a floor of empty rooms. The room was awful and I didnt sleep for the whole holiday from a very very poor quality bed. Bugs were constantely coming out of the drain in the bathroom, and bathroom floor flooded everytime you had a shower. Staff were unfriendly and rude, and myself and my partner were unwell after eating one lunch there. The town is extremely expensive, and we spend 600 euros on food alone for the week, and that is without having much lunch. The town was quiet and with no life, not what expected, and lagana was also out of season in June being quiet. The beaches were not nice, they were closed at night becuase of the turtles but the quality is of an english beach. You can get taken to a different beach by Thompson which is better quality. Done a turtle trip excursion which was the only highlight of the holiday. It was great fun, getting three sea swims in beautiful water and finding a turtle. The food at night time was poor in every restuarant apart from one, heavens kitchin. Had to eat here 3 nights due to having bad experiences at other restaurants in town. The pool area of the hotel was nice a clean, with good sunbeds. Dont be fooled by the photos on Thompsons web site though, it is a lot smaller then what it appears in the photograph. There is also a constant sewage smell around the hotel, which was especially bad at night.

This was a unfortunate holiday to pick, and a waste of a holiday and our money. Will definitely not be returning.

" Thank you for your comments. We are sorry to hear the hotel appears not to meet our usual high standards. We do take comments seriously and will be addressing the points raised with suppliers so they can rectify these. This resort is generally very popular with a wide selection of bars and restaurants to choose from. We are sorry that the resort did not live up to your expectations. "

I really wonder if some of the people writing stayed at the same apartments as myself and 7 year old son. I have been to Greece many times and this was by far the best I have ever stopped in! The room was spacious, clean and well equipped with kettle, toaster and a microwave!! There was even a hairdryer. (Just to advise tho the shower is in a bath and maybe difficult for some to get into) The rooms were cleaned daily, and I lost count of how many times the towels and bedding were changed during our 11 night stay. The staff were all very friendly and yes reception wasn't manned, but it states on the desk just to go to the bar pool. I'm a single parent and everyone always said hello (other guests and staff) and I never felt uncomfortable. The pool area was well maintained and the pool was checked for cleanliness regularly. The Ionian Blue is well situated for the beach, about a 15 min walk and 5 mins to the main resort. The resort is a mixture of Greek and 'British' bars and restuarants, and I personally found it lacking in the 'Greek'. I found too many places that thought everything should be with chips and tomato sauce and that kids always want sausages or chicken nuggets! The Olive Tree is a lovely place to eat tho and the staff will do their best to provide a child's portion of any meal, my son loved the chicken stifado. The excursions sold by the rep were a little pricey, but we did go on the Simply Zante trip, it was informative, but not ideal for children although the Blue Caves are a must. Try Eurosky Travel Company on the main road, the yellow submerine turtle trip was particularly good value. The bus service is also quite good only 1.40 euro to go to Zante Town and children are free. Ask at any supermarket for a bus timetable. If you fancy a bit of fun the crazy golf course provided us with many laughs, and is well worth a go. I wouldn't go back to Zakynthos because its not Greek enough for me but I would love to be able to take the Ionian Blue with me on my next holiday to Greece it was fantastic!!!!

The Ionion Blue Studios were perfect for our stay. The rooms were very comfortable and had everything we needed. They were kept spotless. The pool area was lovely and very spacious, plenty of sunbeds. The staff and owners were very friendly and helped us learn a little greek! You can see the planes arriving from your balcony/pool, but this wasnt a problem. Whilst they are quite close, there was only a few a day (maybe 6-7 that i counted) so was just enough to keep us entertained but not to tire of them. They would stop coming in before teatime. The resort was quiet but did start to get a bit busy on the bank holiday weekend, but not too busy which suited us. Plenty of restaurants and bars. Our favourite was The Mermaid for food and also The Olive Tree. Try Zepos if you like a sea view. Their is also a bakery on the Kalamaki Main Road, great for croissants for breakfast the next morning. We took the bus to Zante town, 1.40 Euros each. so easy to use. Get off at the bus station, cross the road, and walk through the 'rough' or street, down the hill. Just remember to head for the Rock to get back to the bus depot. We loved our holiday and loved the hotel/resort. We would recommend it and would go back, Great for couples/familys.
