we visited dreams in august 08. The ride to the hotel is quite something else!!Lots of potholes and coaches swaying in the middle of roads and incoming traffic!! sure to wake you up after the flight!! Great welcome from the hotel on arrival with glasses of champagne to greet you. Room was large, clean and very comfortable. First day there arrived back in our room after long day sunbathing to find quite a few of my things stolen(jewellery, makeup, clothing)!! After talking to quite a few fellow guests over the next two weeks we found we were definetly not the only ones!! Good hint is to check on top of the tv unit(its about 6ft tall) the maids throw items of your clothing up there to collect after you leave!! We also found it hard to get served most nights as the americans tend to tip 1 to 2 dollars for every drink they order and at the top lobby bar we reguarly saw 5dollars bills handed over for every drink. Apart from these 2 main gripes we had the hotel really is fantastic!! Honest! food gorgeous and lots of variety. Beach not very good, but pool is to die for! All in all it is a very good hotel, but it was just those two things that would put us of ever returning!

Truly amazing memorable holiday. Resort was everything I had hoped for and more. There was a "mix up" about my room when I first got there, but it was not the resorts fault, it was down to Thompson, but the resort eventually got me settled. Everywhere was so clean and the staff were fantastic. Always happy and smiley and nothing was ever too much trouble. Coming from the UK I was totally impressed. WE could learn a lot from the way they treat their "guests" there!!! Food was always fresh and appertising and SO much choice. Pool was great and well maintained. The flamingoes were a very nice touch and I loved to see them every day. I could not write this review without mentioning the "Entertainments Team"...they were truly awesome. I do not know how they keep up their stamina day in and day out. Arranging and playing games all day long then putting on fabulous shows in the evening, sometimes with very complicated routines, and then mingling with the guests until the early hours...they are truly a wonderful advert for the Dominican. Our excursion to "Ocean World" was the highlight of our holiday. A truly wonderful venue and we got there early enough to have a good day out. The journey there and back by road did leave a lot to be desired though. I really think it's about time the Dominican looked into spending some money on the roads instead of just building resorts. As it was my 1st visit I was not impressed with the journey to the resort, as the roads were in such an abismal condition the Coach had to keep stopping to get round the craters. If the Country wishes tourists to keep visiting then I think they need to look at their priorities! All in all I have no negative memories of the "Dreams" resort. We all used the spa and found it absolutley wonderful. After so much sun it was nice to visit a cool tranquil place and be in such beautiful surroundings. I have to mention "Rafael" the caracature artist. He is totally amazing and I saw many of his drawings in the 2 weeks of my visit and each one left me totally amazed. What a wonderful talented man. The beach was beautiful although very "unkempt" in places. This was mostly down to the tourists unfortunatly. I did go and see 1 sunrise and was very impressed to see a member of staff actually with a wheelbarrow cleaning along the shore line. To finish I will say that at all times I felt very safe and welcome. I would not hesitate to visit again NOR recommend it to friends. A true "Heaven on Earth".

Just had the best family holiday ever with my wife, two kids (10yrs and 5yrs) and been to Disney twice in last 3yrs, Lanzarote, Portugal,Mauritius and maldives. The hotel is definitely 4+* , the staff were always friendly and attentive and nothing seemed to be too much trouble, if you treated people with respect then you got the same back, what i mean is that a lot of these reviews about this hotel are from people who expect to be waited on hand and foot and treat the staff terribly, we witnessed it first hand!! the food was amazing, loads of choice, and no poisoning problems, the plates were always spotless and the food well chilled or on hot plates and replensihed regularly, overseen by daniel a really nice guy who's job was to ensure that food was not left uncovered for longer than 20minutes and he did just that , day and night. Breakfast was a real treat, so much choice and the omelettes are to die for! the pool and gardens are amazing, the pool winds down from the lobby to the beach, where you can swim up to the pool bar and order your cocktails, although it got a bit noisy in the afternoon once the rum had kicked in, but plenty of space to escape and lay quietly on your sunbed and relax. we booked a family suite which is 2 connecting rooms, with a large King sized four poster bed in one room , and 2 queens in the other, the kids loved their independence and space , not found in the normal suites , where you get your own jacuzzi but still have pull out camp beds, would recommend this family suite to anyone with kids (room 2210!). entertainment staff were brilliant especially Stephanie, usher, fifty cent and melkis - brilliant, these guys work hard every day to ensure you have a great time joining in the activities , but not once was i pestered to take part, just wish id joined in earlier as we had such a laugh!! everyday there is a party at 5pm at the sugar reef, where they play games and drink cocktails, with the amount of americans in the resort they are never short of contestants! sit back , drink a coco loco and laugh at the oversized americans making a fool of themselves -priceless! All in all we had a great time, my kids cried when we had to leave, but cheered up when we took the helicopter ride back to the airport, it costs approx #200 for 4 , but well worth seeing the island , aswell as avoiding the bus route back , which is hardwork with kids if the a/c isnt working! have a great time - ignore poor reviews - its brilliant!!

Well where do i start, fantastic holiday with lots to do through the day!! Nothing at night though, entertainment finished at 10 every night and was repeated weekly, we were very disappointed!! Children will love the entertainment but for a young couple I wouldnt suggest Dreams. Food was fantastic, 8 excellent restaurants, seaside grill was our fav, world buffet was also changed regularly. Beaches are fantastic but stay to the left as it isnt as rocky, not as many watersports as it states in brochure. Rooms are fantasic!! Everything you could want and more, very clean and relaxing. Maids are in twice a day filling up your mini bar and making beds. The chocolate mints and towel art are a nice touch. Overall a fantastic holiday!!

I booked this for my wife and I through the travel office and also booked for my son and his girlfriend via the internet. I booked a deluxe room with sea view for myself and my wife and a standard room for my son. We had a slight delay going out but this could not be avoided as someone on the incoming flight was very ill. The flight was good in premier class with ample food and drink. The coach trip to the hotel is over an hour and unlike other transport was reasonly comfortable. On arrival check in was quick and our suitcases delivered to our rooms promplty. Next came the rooms, they were both exactly the same except my son had a nice pool view and we had a view of the gardens and access road... no sea. I took this up with reception as i did not consider this to be a deluxe room with a sea view. They offered me another room with a pool view but this was not in the same order as the first as the air conditioning rattled. They also offered me a suite at an extra $80 per day. We stayed put for a while and informed the Thomson rep and the Concierge when he came round the pool asking for feedback. This prompted me to go back to reception and and ask again for a duluxe room. After some negotiation and approval from the manager we agreed to move at an extra $60 per day. MORAL OF THIS IS DO NOT BOOK A DELUXE ROOM AS THEY ARE ALL THE SAME EXCEPT FOR THE SUITES. We then settled into a very nice suite complete with jacuzzi. Now for the trip to Sanoa the idyllic dessert island. this was a big disappointment to all of us. The expectation of a beach with only your group on it for a quiet BBQ. FORGET IT. The beach chosen has shops and purpose built BBQ and bars. There were more people on the beach than at our resort. It was not advisable to walk around without shoes as the area was littered with beer bottle tops and other debris. I personally did not use the toilets but evidently they are disgusting. MORAL DON,T BOTHER GOING ON THIS TRIP. Another thing to consider with this hotel is that for every trip you do go on it is about an hour journey on the potholed roads not always in a comfy bus before you get to a boat or main transport. Overall we had a smashing holiday and the hotel is comfortable friendly with good food. The entertainment is only on a weekly basis so once you have been there a week you would have probably seen it all. One other issue is the Americans smoking in resturants the theatre and even the pool as well as eating in the pool
