having returned from 14 days at oasis papagayo i feel i must comment honestly for everybodys benefit. The Thompson staff at this resort were top quality, and although our kids have long flown the nest its a place we would love to take our grandchildren too in the future.Check -in was not good we where told the room wasnt ready and we had to wait an hour,we walked around for an hour then to be told it would be another hour,i complained immeadiately and the girl on reception found us a room straight away,we had an early start and did not need this.We went self catering this time and have been to this resort on 4 occassions, luv it.the rooms were ok ,cleaned dailyand mostly we enjoyed the surroundings. Now the down side ,on 4 occassions we where awoken before daybreak by horrendous smells from the sewer system, this was not only in the apartment but over the site, even the fuerti breeze could not compete and clear it.Imagine a cesspit being emptied, and i have had the pleasure,it was very difficult to breathe without feeling sick, these events lasted about a half hour each time. This was the only thing that detracted from a fantastic holiday,i think that Thompsons should make reference to this on booking.I have heard this happens elsewhere on the island although we havnt experienced this there before, once again Thompson staff cant do enough for you, always smiling and very entertaining, but PLEASE THOMPSON try and sort out the smells .

" Thank you for your comments. We are glad to hear you enjoyed your holiday at the Oasis Papagayo Apartments. We have looked into your comments regarding the sewerage smell and we now believe this is down to secondary recycled water being used to water the gardens. Unfortunately with the heat, sometimes the water in the pipes can heat and smell, and when the gardens are next watered, this is what causes the stagnant smell. Very few guests have mentioned the smells. "

This is the second time we have been here, and we enjoyed the 2nd as well as the first. The only problem we had was at night, with no air con it was very hard to sleep, a couple of night I had to go sit on the balcony at 2/3 in the morning because I couldn't sleep. The Thomson reps where great, they where friendly and very helpful. My 20mth old grandson went to the creche and he loved it. The pool was salt water but it did not seem to bother any one and it was always nice and warm. We went out to eat so not sure on the food, the kids had chips etc from the pool bar during the day and they where ok. The Oasis Park is a must, we had a great day there, with a camel ride, crocodile and seal shows and lots more, well worth the money. And of course not forgetting the water park which is just a 5 min walk. For a good meal you must go to Casa De La Carne steak house its fantastic.

Having just got back from here I have a lovely tan and had a very enjoyable holiday. The hotel is bout 30mins drive from the airport passing through the beautiful sand dunes. The hotel is lovely we were all inclusive and had a great time and would love to return. The rooms are beautiful and above average, very clean and spacious. The only improvement could be air conditioning but once the windows are open the rooms soon cool down. The food was nice buffet style with a good selection for breakfast, fruit, fry ups, pancakes and cereals. The dinner was a pool side buffet which wasnt too bad but was the same choice everyday, burgers, chips, pizza, salad, hotdogs, chicken nuggets. The evening buffet was good and a chef prepared meat whilst you waited. There was also a restraunt which ran themed nites such as indian chinese spanish and mexican which was very nice. The entertainment was excellent if you had children as the reps entertained them al day and night. There was a creche, play ground, 3 adult swiming pools and 3 childrens pools. The top end is were the entertainment happens and the bottom is relaxing and quiet with a jacquzi tub. Overall this hotel was brilliant a short walk to the sand dunes and beach with the market and water park just across the road. I would recomend this hotel as i was a little worried reading other peoples reviews. However it was brilliant and i may return in the future.

just returned from 2 wonderful weeks at the oasis papagayo, this being are 5th time there. myself and partner and 5 yr old son. the complex is still run well and gardens well maintained, only down side the small childs pool could do with re-grouting and tiled, but apart from that a very enjoyable stay again. as we were s/c tiffanys down by the tamarindo roundabout does great food, 3pm - 5pm they have cheap specials on. on the same same side DJ's bar is good choice to chill out and relax. the baku park was shut!! and has been for some time due to running costs and lack of people which is a shame, but the beaches of corralejo more than make up for that, olivia beach is a must!! costsabout 5 euros in a taxi. but slap the factor 30 on. so a big thanks to laura and the rest of the thompson reps for a great holiday once again. ps. if you hear sealions in the early hours of the morning your not imagining it.

We have just returned from 1 week All Inclusive at Oasis Papagayo. 2 adults, and 4 kids aged 15 13 7 and 4. The rooms were basic but clean, although there was a sewage smell when using the kitchen sink. Rooms would benefit from air conditioning. The third bed was a sofa bed which was uncomfortable and lacking in bedding and pillows. The resort had excellent & clean pool areas, excellent entertainment staff and good evening entertainment. The childrens clubs were badly sign posted and there was a lack of a small childrens playground, for general use. The food was always a limited choice and was barely warm. Even the themed night in the A La Carte restaurant was very disappointing. We found the famous 'Tiffanys' english cafe which was our saviour and ate there 3 times. Good warm english hospitality and great food. Overall we all had a good holiday but we would not return to the Oasis Papagayo.
