We stayed for just a week and it wasn't at all long enough, the facilities for the children are excellent. My son (aged 10) loved the football sessions, and my daughter (aged 8) who unfortunately is incredilbly shy would not join any of the clubs but was able to dance away in the pool with the thomson entertainment reps. The evening entertainment was excellent for the children with games. chuckle time ,dancing etc I had read previous reviews saying that the food was terrible, so we ventured down into the main resort each night as we went self catering, and I strongly recommend that you try Toni Roma restaurant, however on the last night we were struggling for time and tried the hotel restaurant, the service and food were excellent!! The dunes is a good walk from the hotel, we decided accidently to walk this (my husband said he knew where the beach was!!) luckily we had lots of water with us and there is a bar just before you arrive at the dunes. I would warn you though that if you do walk it, be aware that you will arrive at the nudist part of the beach as we found out. The dunes beaches are sensational and well worth a walk or a coach ride. The walk along the harbour is a pleasant stroll with many 'interesting sights'!! along with an execise programme for any energetic children. The Baku aqua park was a good day out, well worth going.
This is our second visit to this complex.Came in aug 06. Plane there and back was a bit old, but both flights were one of the best i have had yet. Breakfast on way over was burnt, but return meal was the best evey in flight meal very yummy, both adults and childs. Transfer about 20-30mins. We stayed in a two bedroom appartment which is very big. One bed roomed ones are very big too. We just like to have a room for us and the kids. Appartments cleaned every day apart from Thur and Sun.Beds are made, towels changed about every oher day, floor and beds changed twice in two weeks. Complex has two large main salt water pools, one large saltwater baby pool where there is a bar, pool and English entertainment throughout the day. There is a smaller fresh water pool and baby pool and a jacuzzi at the other sid of the complex, but this has mainly other nationalities around it and entertainment for them too. Main town with lots of places to eat is about ten mins walk or between 2.60 and 3.60 euros. Recommend the PLAZA, your family can sit and eat from any of the resturants in there. choose from Tai, chinese, italian(very yummy) steak house and mexican and a english sports pub. There is BAKU water park which also has other things to do like sea lions, climbing wall etc. Costs 85 euros for family of 4. If you go right out of the complex there is a couple of good english eating places. the Winning post and Tiffanys(this is very good)On a Sunday its bookings only and they do the best roast dinners. Scrummy puds too. We ate at many places and some were better than others, but never had a realy bad meal. WARNING! We ate at the complex resturant in 2006 and it was very bad. It is still very bad STAY AWAY. The olivia beach is the best beach and you can get a taxi for about 5 euros. Not to be missed. In 2006 we did not go on any trips, so we thought we would this time. First we went on a catamaran 162. This includes dinner and drink and bus leaves complex at 10 and returns about 3. This was enjoyed by all my family, apart from me i was a little sea sick. Then we went on a trip to the oasis park. 138 euros. Bus leaves at 8.55 and returns at approx 5.30. This is a long, but well worth the visit. It includes a very yummy lunch (later in day so take snacks 2pm ish) and a camel ride. All in all this was another fantastic holiday and would recommend to all. The only falt with these appartments is that there is no air con but can hire fans. We never.
my son, mum and i stayed in july and had the best time ever. The entertainment reps were brilliant bo bowie lil kim and boggie ben who kept my son entertained the whole hoilday. the kidzone reps were mad as hatters , my son had a brill time in tribe.the best holiday we have had. would go again in a flash. thanks reps
After reading reveiws i was weary as most people but this was the best holiday id had no the maids arnt super cleaners it was 5 days before we got our sheets changed and towels had to be asked for but it didnt ruin my holiday the reps here are great they work all day to give you a gr8 time didnt use kids club much as you had to reserve a place the day before and we like to venture out so only went once and it was choclate party which was fun.we used the beach which was 15 mins walk but also went to the blue flag beach 10 mins on bus and the sand dunes also 10 mins on bus these beaches are absolutly beautiful we also hired a car and went to the other end of island jandia this is the most georgous place ive ever seen well worth the journey.oasis park is good day out but very hot when watching birds at top of mountain.lots of nice restaurants but dont do indian its like something from a jar but worse.that would be my only complaint and the breeze on a night we needed jackets yes there were a few building sites i think the fun train must like you seeing them as thats where it takes you.we also went to lanzarote on the ferry half hour crossing which was nice.overall excellant holiday.
We were originally supposed to be going to the orquidea in gran canaria, but due to refurb we had to chosse somewhere else, and we arrived here. We had read reviews and were dreading every minute. We had the best holiday ever, the thomson reps are the best, bo bo bowie, lil kim, and monkey boy, not to mention the fab kids reps, excellent emma and groovy grace. Our apartment was cleaned every day and had fresh bedding and towels every other day, if you need extras, just ask the maids. It is a little walk to the town, a good 20 mins, but waikiki beach is worth a visit, a taxi costs 3euros only if the walk is too far for you. Lots of english restaurants offering a good breakfast. We went half board and if you are willing to try different foods this is the way to go, but this is manly a english self catering holiday and we were 1 of 5 english families eating half board only, lots of germans and polish etc. The pools are very salty but it didnt stop my children aged 7 and 10, having a good time evryday in the pool. The excursion on offer are varied, we did the comedy drag night, fabulous for a group of adults but too late for kids and bordering on crude and rude for them. We also did the water park, which is across the road from the complex, a good day had there, and you can come in and out all day as long as you have your band on your wrist. We also did oasis park, an early start in the morning but well worth it. Enetertainment in the evening is great, although needs to be outside, the cabaret acts were good, the best being the shico show, very funny. During the day there's waterpolo, volleyball, party dancing, face painting, 4pm quiz, aquaaerobics, killer darts and skittles, these can win you prizes, beach bag, t shirt etc. We are now expert at thomson the dog dances. You have to be willing to take part and make a fool of yourself, which we did, but we were on holiday. Overall the best family holiday we have had, would def go back. Thanks Thomson xxxxx
