Hotel Capri has a great location - 5 mins walk to the train station, and 10 mins to the main square in Sorrento (Tasso). We'd chosen this hotel for its location, but it did exceed expectations when we arrived. Very clean and tidy. Quality food at breakfast and helpful staff. Pool area although small was bigger than the website pictures suggested and was a nice place to chill for a few hours. You can only eat and drink things purchased at the hotel's pool bar, but prices were pretty reasonable and the food was nice. Only draw back of the hotel was the noise as the hotel is on a main road - not too bad though once the window was shut at night and wouldn't put us off visiting Hotel Capri again as the location was perfect. Very easy and cheap to get around on public transport: Amalfi and Ravello by bus (from the train station) is only 7.50 euro's. Pompei took half an hour by train and the train stops right outside the main gate (take food and drink with you as only 1 small cafe there). Naples is about 1 hour by train - the train ticket also covers you on most buses and the funicular railway. Some amazing churches in Naples - a 'working city' but well worth a visit. The view from the castle area on the hill is truely amazing. Hotel Capri is a good little hotel selected by Thomson. We will stay here again if we return to wonderful Sorrento. Make sure you know which sort of balcony you are getting if pay extra for this - we ended getting a 'french balcony' - couldn't sit out on this and meant we ended up with a room on the main road.
