I came here with my friend on the 19th July 2010. Hotel is clean and really friendly, the food is not great, evening meals are probably the best as there are quite a few options. The bbq around the pool is lovely and not a mad rush like the dining hall can be. Mama mia is one of the restaurants within the hotel it serves italian food and the waiters constantly bring you drinks and the food is gorgeous! the weather was possibly a bit too hot at this time of year but we still had an excellant time. the beach serves hot dogs and burgers in the afternoon and has many sunloungers. evening entertatinment does not have much going for it but if you go out into Naam bay you are guarenteed a good night esspecially in camel bar which is set on a terrace outside and can see out onto Egypt. you will definaly have a good holiday here but the food did spoil our holiday a little bit.
My wife and I have just returned from the Tropicana Grand Oasis after a 2 week stay. We booked this as a last minute deal and at a very good price. We had read the reviews, some good and some bad but decided to try for ourselves. The hotel itself is very good. The food was good although not much of a change wekk by week. The pool was a blessing with the weather being 40 plus. Lots of sunbeds but you need to aquire an umbrella first thing in the morning or there will not be enough come the hot sun at lunch time. The beach is quite a walk from the hotel itself and is rocky with a small sandy beach and jetty. When dining in the hotel look for Efat the waiter, he is so friendly and not at all false, looking for a tip. The cabaret is of poor standard and therefore you can find quite good films in English on the tv in your room! The hotel runs a free bus to and from Naama Bay each day BUT... be very wary as the moment you step off in the bay you will be pounced on by shop keepers who don't stop pestering (they all have cousins in Manchester!) We had quite a bad experience in one perfume shop and this became quite worrying with the constant you buy. A couple we met on the same day were locked in the shop until they paid out 400 E. Pounds. However, would we go to the Tropicana Grand Oasis again, YES and would recommend this to others to try. Enjoy and have a Great time. A J
The hotel is very clean, location awful, food very bad, waiters good, reception staff poor. The hotel is very clean, there are always cleaners going about cleaning, even at 9-10pm at night. Rooms are cleaned usually early in the morning around 9-11am The location of this hotel is awful, although there is a newly built 'shopping centre' around a 8-10 min walk, the hotel has building works all around ( This was in June-July 2010 ). The food in the hotel is extremely repetitive, you can usually guess what there will be. There are themed nights, but trying to find the special dishes associated with the theme of the night will take you a while! Breakfast NEVER changes, it actually never changes. The waiters are good however, and are very swift at taking your dirty plates at you table away. The reception staff on the other hand are very abrupt, and not in anyway helpful. You dont get alot of respect from them, unless paying them for something extra. Tipping of course is the way of life in egypt, and waiters and you room cleaner expect a tip at the end of you stay, porters expect tips as well.
We arrived at the Tropicana Grand Oasis on the 17 th june and was staying there for a week on an all inclusive basis. We arrived at the hotel at around half eleven and was shown to our rooms, we did not have any drinks or food on offer but we were told after there had been a midnight buffet on we would of attended this if the main reception would of notified us. I have never stayed in this hotel resort before this was my first time in egypt i was amazed at the views and how well kept the gardens are around the hotel. I would recommend the ultimate desert experience with thomson as it is well worth the money and i really enjoyed it. I found that the food was very rich and i didnt like most of the food what was on offer and most of it upset our stomachs. On the 5th day on my stay in sharm el shiekh i discovered that i had very bad projectile vomitting and had to be rushed to see the doctor it didnt help when the temperture had been 37 at night and late 40's in the day. The doctor had said that i had gastroentritis due to eating food that had been re-heated and heat exhaustion i cannot fault the doctor in any way as his service was very good. I also found the staff was very rude and only brought you drinks when tipped and some staff had a smile on thier faces all day which i did tip!!... i felt overall my stay was worth it but there was some ups and downs. if you ever consider on having a holiday here i advise you to visit zizo in the perfume shop at the hotel he is very friendly and will speak to you all day.... also when we were waiting to be picked up from the hotel to the airport to go home the main reception did not inform the gatwick guests that their flight had been cancelled due to over exceeded hours and the only way these people found out was just by luck one of them foned the hotline and ask and found out that way.
" Thank you for your comments, we are sorry you were not well on your trip. We promote good hygiene practices within hotels, but the hygiene standards in some foreign countries, particularly developing destinations, are generally much lower than in the UK. Care should be taken to minimise the risk of holiday sickness. "
