My wife and I have stayed at the Makadi Marine many times and were fortunate to be the first British guests to stay at the newly re-furbished hotel, now called the Sensimar Makadi, last December. The rooms have been very tastefully decorated with new furniture. The beds are now bigger and more comfortable and the bathrooms now have new modern fittings. The room lighting is of a better standard than before and bedrooms now benefit from having tea/coffee making facilities as well as room safes. The dining room and bar areas have also been brought up to date. There is a good range of food, some of which is freshly barbecued for the evening dinner. The hotel is all-inclusive and there is a wide choice of drinks readily available. The hotel is next to its own private beach where there is a good supply of sun-beds. There are also plenty of sun-beds around the two swimming pools as well as sufficient umbrellas and areas of shade. The main charm of this hotel is the fact that it is not too big, so the staff, who are most attentive and helpful, soon get to know you and will often anticipate your needs! Daytime activities are deliberately low-key. If you wish to take part in,say, water aerobics, it's there for you but no-one will try to urge you to take part if you don't want to. All in all the atmosphere is one that encourages complete relaxation which is further helped by the fact that the hotel is now for couples only. The hotel is close to the shopping area of Madinat Makadi where there are bars and restaurants to visit if you want a change of scenery in the evenings. Excursions are available to the nearest town Hurghada or snorkelling trips to nearby islands, and it is possible to make longer trips from Makadi Bay to Cairo or Luxor. There is now a first class golf course next to the resort for the more energetic, but if all you want from your holiday is guaranteed good weather and plenty of rest and relaxation then you need look no further than the Sensimar Makadi.
