The Club Viva is a 4 star hotel by Turkish standards. It is a actually a fairly nice hotel and very clean. We stayed in the newer part of the hotel and the rooms are bright, airy and well set out with fridge, flat screen tv, good size balcony and a big walk in shower. The room also has air conditioning but it appeared to be locked to a minimum 23 degrees which made it innefective. The hotel is in Armutalan which is about a mile from the centre of Marmaris and the sea front, but easily reached by Dolmus. The mosque next door certainly woke me every morning about 5.30am although later in the day it tends to be less noticeable. The pool is a good size and cleaned regularly. It has a constant depth at 1.5 metres and there is a fenced off children's pool area. There are not enough sunbeds for all guests and no room for any more. The hotel states its policy is to remove towels on reserved sunbeds after an hour if they are not used, but I never saw them doing that and if you want a sunbed you have to get up early! The restaurant is pretty typical All inclusive in cafetria style. the staff who clear tables are friendly and helpul. Breakfast is continental style but you can pay for a full english if you want one. The main food tends to be chicken, chicken and chicken, and also salad and pasta. Sometimes its hot, sometimes not. The chicken dishes usually taste the same, regardless of how they are described. In esence, after a couple of days you really need to eat out because the food in the restaurant is so bland. We booked an early call from reception (didnt happen) and a packed breakfast (didnt happen) and the bar staff are awful. Its rare to get a full glass of anything, and its usually dumped in front of you grudgingly. Bar staff were generally rude to guests, appeared not to want to serve them, and many guests complained amongst themselves that the drinks were watered down. You can purchase drinks when the AI finishes at 11:00 but remember to get your change! The entertainment is also poor. Break-dancing, bingo and Michael Jackson impersonator's pretty much sums it up when we were there. If that wasnt bad enough, guests are expected to pay the entertainers!!! I'd go back, but not until they sort out the customer service.
