What can one say about the Istankoy that hasn't already been said? I think Thomson have got a cracker here! Viewed from the roadside it isn't the best of lookers but once through reception I thought it was an oasis. The hotel is bigger than it first appears, with several little intimate "private" areas and superb sun terraces with the pool being the predominant feature - how lovely it looks, especially lit up after dark. The staff: To a man (and woman!) what a grand, helpful bunch of people. Overall appearance: I'd be surprised if there was a neater, cleaner place in Bodrum. The restaurant: The quality and prices, I thought were superb. We tried a couple of restaurants on the waterfront but they couldn't match the Istankoy. And their steak - its been years since I've consumed a steak that tender! The bar: While we were there it was run by a real character - I think his name was Hasan. As for the prices I can only relate to Efes beer. Of the many places we had a drink the prices at the hotel were about the best! A day cruise on the hotel's own boat is a must. A grand day out and a bargain to boot. Overall, we enjoyed this holiday very much. We usually go to Greece and the quieter the spot the better, so when my wife booked a holiday in Turkey I was a little aprehensive about holidaying in such a busy location as Bodrum. However, concerns were totally unfounded. It was great and so was the hotel. Gripes (only two little 'uns): Being of mature years (68 and 65) We were miffed to find only stools to perch on in our room - very uncomfortable. The shower: Useless.

Great little hotel, fantastic location, rooms cleaned every day, a little sparse, no English langauage channels. Pool great looked small on pictures but it was ok, plenty of sunbeds. Great food and drinks at reasonable prices generally cheaper than in town, same with the food, which was really good. Staff were all brilliant, especially Hassan, the batman come waiter, Manager was also very helpful, however the Parrot can get on your nerves! Especially if you are in the room above it, we moved, which was not a problem. Must be the best located hotel, not big which was really nice:-)

The hotel was poor, which was a surprise after reading many positive reviews. We asked to move rooms but was told this was not possible, so then had to put up with a tiny balcony which you can't use and a shower that flooded the bathroom everytime you used it. Also the staff were not particularly friendly and hardly spoke. The hotel is in an excellent location however. Bodrum is a lovely place and I highly recommend it. The marina area is lovely as is the bazaar area - it is a shoppers paradise! People are very friendly as is the norm in Turkey. If you visit Bodrum you have to eat at the Otantik Restaurant - it is excellent. Overally I would definitely recommend Bodrum but not this hotel.

Istankoy was a great hotel, the staff were excellent and always there to help with a smile. The rooms were lovely and roomy and very clean, they were cleaned every day and new towels were put in the rooms. We had dinner there on a couple of the nights and the meals and service were faultless. The hotel is a 3 minute walk to the beach and all the restaurants so very central which suited us fine. We will be returning to Bodrum next year hopefully and will be making sure we stay at the Istankoy if they have room for us.
