Myself and my family stayed at fort arabesque in may, this hotel is exellent. The staff were always on hand if you needed anything, and they kept the hotel very ery clean. The bedrooms are huge, each room has two double beds in and a sofa, a mini bar which is stocked with bottled water and friut juice every day. The cleaners came in twice a day and did a great job. The hotel is about 30 mins from the airport and the nearest town of hurgahda, there isnt much outside of the hotels grounds exept the dessert but taxis are available if you wish to go into the town. I must advise that tipping is a must. the beach is stunning and the sea is out of this world with fantastic sea life and coral reefs just 50 meters out. Fort arabeque is a guite and peacefull hotel,if all you want is to chill out then this is the place. i wouldnt advise this hotels for familys with small children as there isnt a lot for them to do, there is a activity club but they speak itailian which wasnt a problem for us. Most of the guests are itailian or german, not many english. lovely swimming pools and plenty of yummy food, but yet again the food wasnt catered around the english. we had a great hoilday and are already making plans to book for next year.

We have just returned from our second stay at Fort Arebesque and all I can say is that it just confirmed why we went back and why we will return. It is simply the best location on Makardi Bay. The beach is superb - no coral to cross just beautiful soft sand, flat and shallow and clear blue water. The snorkelling is easy and very rewarding and, if you don't want to snorkel you can just walk out to the coral outcrops and see all the beautifully coloured fish. At low tide you need not go further in than just above the knees and still see them in all their glory. The Hotel staff are wonderful, the rooms very large and comfortable and the cleanliness exemplary. The food is excellent, (the salads to die for) with something for everyone and all tastes with a very extensive choice. Don't expect to diet! There is entertainment if you want it although it is Italian orientated but as you are free to wander in and out at will it's worth a visit. Alternatively you can just sit at the beach edge by the beach cafe where there is also entertainment or just stroll around the breathtakingly maintained gardens. A stroll around the bay will confirm that Fort Arebesque has the best beach with the sunloungers widely spaced which you won't find at the other hotels. Unfortunately this does lead to guests from other hotels using the beach for snorkelling and swimming as it is so accessible There is plenty to do if you are so inclined or if you simply want to relax in the sun this is the ideal place for it. A trip on a glass hulled boat is well worth the 10 minute walk along the front to the marina to catch it as you can see the reefs and fish without getting wet and at very close quarters. There are facilities for children including a beach club where the youngsters are looked after and entertained all day long. The hotel is ideally situated being the first drop off point from Hurghada airport which is an advantage but, be prepared for mayhem at the airport as the Egyptians are not known for their organisational skills!!! The trip to the Bedouin Village is interesting but do be prepared for a very hot and uncomfortable 4 x 4 ride to get there and 2 steep and precarious climbs in very exposed and very hot conditions. Give Hurghada town a miss unless you really enjoy being in an unbearably hot, dusty and dirty environment and hassled at every step. We will be returning again as this hotel offers everything one could wish for - a perfect relaxing retreat. Heaven

Just got back from a wonderful week (35 degrees each day!) This is a great location for those of you who wish to snorkle but not too out of your depth. Lots of clumps of coral to explore (we saw Octopus, scorpion fish, parrot fish & a huge puffer fish etc etc. Best sandy place to enter the sea is at the bottom of the path leading from the Hot pool outside room 130 where we stayed. We recommend the Thomsons Galaxy & Stars Dinner, exciting trip into the desert in 4x4 trucks (very bumpy but fun!) saw a mirage - climbed & ran down sand dunes & finnished of at a Beduin Camp where taught about their way of life & were served a lovely meal by the tribe before looking through the huge telescope at star formations, the moon & even saw the rings around saturn! Coctails are not included in the All Inclusive but fruit drinks are so I would get a non alcholic fruit cocktail & a vodca & made my own! Your room mini bar is part of the All Inclusive & is filled with Juice, Water & Coke. You can help yourself to Beer, Drinks & Ice Lollys at the Beach Bar. Beach Sun Beds went very early - we had no problem getting a bed outside our room by the hot pool (it was like a bath) & it is only a short stroll to the beach down the path. Hurghada Airport has loads of shops so buy your souveneirs there (much cheaper!) also there is more than one duty free shop so use the one inside the seated departure area as it is not as busy. Have a great relaxing holiday!

My husband and I and our two children aged 4 and 1 spent February half term at the Fort Arabesque Hotel in Makadi Bay. It exceeded our expectations in every way. The hotel was very impressive with beautiful gardens which were incredibly well cared for. The waiting staff were very attentive and all the staff made a great fuss of the children. The room was very spacious and we had our own private terrace and garden just a minute from the beach. It was exceptionally clean and the man who serviced the room made beautiful bird shapes with the towels and laid out flowers on the beds. There was a good choice of food in the restaurant for all meals and we had no problems with pharoah's revenge! The beach was also kept beautifully with comfortable loungers and parasols. A huge variety of fish and coral can be seen very close to the shore. Truly incredible! I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing break in lovely surroundings and who loves to snorkel. We will be returning next year!

Only got back today and apart from aches and pains from a camel ride with sam on thursday I feel great, we arrived on 19th Feb, we were pleased to know that our hotel was the 1st drop off from the airport, the arrival was good, people knew who we were, then it was arm bands on and straight into the eating and drinking! The hotel staff are EXCELLENT in everyway, they made the habit of remembering who you are, where you come from and know what your tipple was. The rooms are spotlesley clean and well looked after, our attendant 'CALLUM' would do anything for you, towels were sometimes changed twice a day, he was a dab hand at making things out of your towels, and blankets, (crocdiles, heart shapes etc). The food was very good, the restaurant staff were as good as the barstaff, very curteous and helpfull, The beach was fantastic, fresh beach towels everyday, loads of sun loungers available, and a beachbar on hand with food always there on hand. You must be saying that this is so far faultless........NO i would like to point out first choice airlines need to be put straight on their customer satisfaction, because its not good, they have to be reminded that its a 5 hour odd flight and people need attending to, to the highest order, on our back to gatwick there was NO movies or tv, their was only the middle toilets working, and they had only 1 water urn working, I asked foe a blanket because it was cold, to be told that they were #5's each!!! but she could ask the pilot to turn the heating up!!!! (Are you sure???) I would like to say if First choice sort their act out this would be the next in place to visit for 2008, we loved it and it was only febuary, and got burn,t and come home with a tan!!!
