Me (17 yrs) and My Nana (64 yrs) both went to this hotel together it was represented by friends it was suited for both generations and we both said we couldnt have asked for anything better first impression was WOW i'm definately gonna enjoy it here... our room was on the ground floor we had a back door with a patio which was handy for when my nan wanted to sleep i could just sneak in the back without waking her up... the rooms were a really good size very spacious and we both got a double bed each. The location is quiet but really good in all the right reasons, snorkeling in the beach was the best i have ever experiance i saw so many amazing fish it was unreal. the food was great and we loved the different salads they definately enjoy their desserts and take pride in presentation and quality it was perfect, the hotel garden were well kept and there was always a gardener there , the beach is gorgeous.i found this holiday the most enjoyable it was more than i expected, the hotel it self was beautiful and the whole resort was well looked after by the staff,The best pool is the swim up bar and it had good quick service from the bar staff, the red rocks bar was the best attended there every evening and had a nice friendly chat with the staff behind the bar Mina, Mo'men, Mohamed by the end of the night knew which drinks i was ready to have and knew exactly how we preferred them too. I went on a 4 x 4 jeep trip into the desert and did some camel riding here and then visited the Bedouin village and then finished by watching the stars through a telescope it was well worth going as i enjoyed it alot seeing the different ways outside the resort. ALL of the staff were extremely friendly and they couldnt have made the holiday any more enjoyable... I will definately be returning back it was just a shame we were only there for one week instead of 2 but next time it will be 2. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL!!
Excellent location on the best part of the bay for easy access into the sea via nice sandy beach. The food is good quality and reasonably varied, the drinks included in the all inclusive are great, all the beer and soft drinks are either in cans or bottles. The rep was very helpful and friendly.
The hotel was clean and well kept. The food was all buffet style, varied and of a good quality. Red wine was drinkable in small doses. No tummy upsets, we didn't have ice in drinks and used cleansing gel after handling money. We also cleaned our teeth in in bottled water. At lunch time there could be a bit of a queue, but it moved along quickly. There were plenty of sun beds and shades although the front line was always bagged with towels even before 7am. No late night noise. Have never stayed in such a large hotel before and am not sure I would have liked it as much at the height of the season if it was full. Snorkeling straight off the beach was great with so many colourful fish in shallow water. We took our own masks and fins but these are available for hire at the dive shop. I did some scuba diving and the dive shop was a good set up. Saw a small reef shark. Service at the beach bar was friendly and quick, but not overly busy which we enjoyed.
This was our first experience of Egypt and the Red Sea. Makadi Bay is a sheltered shallow bay with wonderful coral reefs and astonishing quantities and species of technicolour fishes, all easily seen with the aid of goggles or snorkel, and within paddling distance of the sea edge.Fort Arabesque was a brilliant choice. The hotel is set in extensive and beautiful gardens, our room was enormous with two large beds and a spacious balcony with views across the bay. We found the staff unfailingly polite and friendly and the food was very varied. My wife, who has some dietry requirements which can be difficult away from home, had no problems here. We went on two excursions during our stay. The first was a semi-submarine in Hurghada to see the off-shore reefs. This was probably the only slight disappointment of the holiday. At #72 for the two of us for a one & a half hour boat trip, it was expensive, and the views of the reefs were not so exciting as swimming over them in Makadi Bay. If you cannot swim it was probably the next best option though Our other excursion was an overnight trip to Luxor. This was fantastic, and although not cheap we thought it excellent value. The 5 hour cross-desert journey was long, but the destination made it all worthwhile. Luxor, Temple of Karnak (both by day and at night for the Sound & Light show) Valley of the Kings etc. Breathtaking. Our hotel overlooked the Nile with views across to the Valley of Kings. One point worth making - there were only 6 people taking this trip when we went, so the coach was only small and did not have toilet facilities. If you need more than one toilet stop in five hours - check the size of the coach they will be using! This was one of the best holidays we have ever had, and the only real criticsm relates to the flight. On the way out we flew in a Thomson Boeing 757 with quite acceptable legroom. For the journey home it was a First Choice Boeing 757, and a previous reviewer who mentioned "cattle Class" was right on the button. Thomson's please note!
My wife and I flew out to the Fort Arabesque on Christmas Day for two weeks of sun and sand. We had booked in Jan. 2009 after reading terrific reviews and am glad to say we were not disappointed. The "Fort" was everything that Thomsons had said, and more. From management all the way down, each and every member of staff just could not do enough for you. Food and drinks were excellent and the New Years Eve Buffet was magnificent. Terrific snorkling just a few yards off the beach, beautiful coral and lovely warm sea. All in all, a fantastic relaxing holiday which we would thoroughly recommend. Also, well done to Thomsons for looking after us when our plane was delayed for our flight back.
