We had a fantastic holiday in Madiera and would recommend this resort. The hotel was set in beautiful mature gardens and the pool area was small but lovely. Lunch could be taken on the terrace beside the pool and overlooking Funchal.
Breakfast was plentiful and served in a bright and spacious dinning room. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant.
We enjoyed spending alternate days either exploring the island and spending time by the pool.
In short the only thing that we didn't appreciate prior to booking was how far up the hill the hotel was. Walking down into Funchal took about 25mins, however pavements seem to be rare on the steep hillside. The hotel does run a shuttle bus but this does not run on a Sunday and stops very early on a saturday. Taxis are easy to obtain, but the price seemed to vary each time we took one from 6 Euros to 10 Euros. we did decide to try and walk back to the hotel one day and it took us over 1 hour.
As long as you plan your time well, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.
This was the second time we had stayed in the hotel. The last time was 12 years ago, and our memory was of a pleasant place. Our memory was correct, in fact it was better than we had hoped. The gardens were a delight, the pool and surrounding area was well maintained and clean. The pool bar was unobtrusive and friendly, with staff who looked after your every need.
The hotel itself was excellent, both in appearance and cleanliness. The reception staff were very helpful and always pleased to give advice and guidance. We were allocated a room upgrade overlooking the drive with a fountain view. The room was large with armchairs to help the comfort. We were next door to the library that came in handy when the weather was inclement.
Without doubt the restaurant was a resounding success. We had a half board package for 2 weeks and decided to take the evening meal option. The restaurant was situated in the Manr House just down the drive, and was exquisite in its own right will plenty of antique furniture dotted around in a very comfortable lounge.
The meals were mad up of 5 courses each evening, with not any repetition of the menu during our complete stay. In fact on one day, International Women Day, the meal was a 7 course event. I have to say the food was nothing short of excellent, and the staff who served and manged the experience were fantastic.
So all in all a great place to stay and well worth the expense.
We really enjoyed five nights at Quinta Bela Vista in January. This is a lovely hotel and the gardens are delightful with many places to relax. The bedrooms are very comfortable. Food is excellent and we enjoyed every dinner we had. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return and I will recommend it to friends.
From the minute you arrive until the minute you leave you are made to feel special with exceptional service, luxurious accommodation, friendly helpful staff and delicious food.
