Hotel Timanfaya Palace is of a good standard though much in need of a refresh decoration and increase in routine maintenance. Food was excellent and staff very friendly. Resort very good and a good size with a series of small bays and a beautiful marina area. Hotel entertainment good but too many repeat resident entertainers, albeit the majority of these individually very good. One of the Resident male duo spent most of the time on stage talking like a radio DJ (not very professional) whilst his accompanying guitarist was excellent. Pity they were paired together. Andy was excellent as was Nancy the pianist. Thomson reps good. Couples reps very good and hotel staff excellent. Beware of Thomson Tui trips arranged tips booked through the Thomson reps. We booked three trips. The first to south tour, Fire Mountain, very good indeed and very well conducted by a German guide who was knowledgeable with only a few times difficult to follow due to syntax used. For second trip to the north, Natural Wonders, the Dutch guide Hema was very good with excellent English and mindful of the need to look after both English and Dutch speaking visitors. Third trip to Teguise Market and Manrique Museum booked for the Manrique element was spoiled by poor guide. Very early start and pick up, but whilst still in the resort had to sit in the coach outside a hotel as Germans on coach decanted to another coach and we awaited 30 mins for the arrival of a party of Dutch visitors. Tui apparently saving money but happy to inconvenience guests. Trip spoiled completely by the Africans guide who giving commentary mainly in Dutch language. Guide, who appeared quote tired and emotional unquote, gave lengthy and extensive explanation in Dutch but limited commentary to English speaking visitors. Eg when explaining many Artist collaborators of Manriques, lengthy explanations in Dutch with a lists of named artists when given in the Dutch but omitted from the English version. Also details of accident in which Manrique died given in Dutch but not in English. Often he spoke at length in Dutch then mid the final sentence switched to English with a conclusion then stated as we had understood what had gone before. He had lost place. Very poor value and wasted trip. Complaint made and recorded by Thomson Rep Lou who promised a response, but never received. Best to avoid Thomson Tui organised trips as the focus upon other than English language visitors.

My husband and I visited as part of a 70th birthday celebration, along with another couple. the hotel was fabulous the staff friendly. Room sea view was good and spacious. Compleat spotless. The activities - pizza making and guacamole master class was fun. Frankie and John part of the hotel team very helpful and friendly. A holiday without children was a bonus, we have 4 grandchildren - but it was a pleasure not to have children crying etc. the food range was food, especially enjoyed the night at The Kasbah was a treat. We did the Rancho Texas evening which was excellent. This was our 5th time in Lanzarote, but our first at Timanfya, but it won't be our last.

We had a wonderful time at the hotel Timanfaya Palace Hotel Lanzarote it is very much 4 star plus. Great staff food and dining room very good. The piano bar lovely with wonderful views. Entertainment in the disco bar not great but bar staff are. There are lovely walks from the hotel along the sea front and the pool area is lovely with lots of shade. You are unable to reserve sun beds until 9.30am so there is not the usual rush for beds and the life guard goes around and takes the towels and anything else left behind if you reserve a bed before then. We look forward to a return visit to this hotel.
