Our holiday was terrible, the room was noisy from the elevator and when we questioned it we were told not to worry and did they sort it out? NO THEY DIDN'T so our holiday was dirty, the pool was terrible and because of the pool my daughter ended up in hospital, the only good thing was the friendly Thompson reps and the days out BECAUSE WE WEREN'T IN THE DREADFUL HOTEL! SO NEVER AGAIN FOR US!!!!!!

Have just returned from our first trip to Majorca, where we spent 14 nights at the Tropico. Not knowing much about the area, we booked this hotel as Thomson advertised it as a family hotel having 2 daughters aged 12 14 it seemed to fit the bill. The hotel itself is pleasent, with a good sized pool, the rooms are a good enough size and the cooking area although small, was functional. The staff and Thomson reps were helpful, and the 2 minor problems we had (both about the cleaning/linen change schedule) were dealt with swiftly and professionally. We had a few reservations prior to travelling as we had read some reviews which mentioned a noise problem. This was not evident during our first week, however during our second week a large influx of young singles into this family hotel made a big difference to the tranquility, with drunken groups arriving back from clubs/pubs throughout the early hours, making lots of noise and taking great delight in throwing as many chairs/sun loungers into the pool as they could. Hotel security attempted to resolve this issue, but their attempts failed. Although leaving us with little sleep, it did not spoil our overall impression of the hotel. I would question however, the wisdom of putting so many young singles into a family hotel. No food in this hotel, however meals can be taken in its sister hotel accross the road, and the meals we had there were good, and in fact, the breakfast meals are far better value for money than anything to be found elsewhere. We had tried Tom Brown's and Joker's for other meals as they came highly recommended from other reviews, however we were extremely disappointed with them for both the quality of food and the service. We did however find a place called The Happy House (next to Tom Brown's on the beach) and found the food and service there to be far superior. We found the cost of shopping to prepare our own meals extremely expensive for even basics such as bread, milk, cereals etc, with very little choice in the many small supermarkets around the resort. However if you get the chance to visit Palma Nova, there is a larger supermarket there, and Palma itself has many larger supermarkets with more choice. We would certainly return to this hotel for future holidays, although we would probably take ear defenders just in case of large groups of young singles!

my husband 4 year old daughter and me went for a weeks holiday in june 2008 and we couldnt wait to get home my daughter enjoyed it but not me and my husband. kids club was good the pool was ok apart from sunbeds having to wait for them getting unchained in the mornings that was a nightmare, could have done with parosels which werent avalible.entertainment at night was very poor mainly being directed at the adults.the apartments were basic but very clean we had a view over the pool whitch was nice.the pirates night is a must it was great the beach was about 10 mins walk.dont really recomend if got young children as magulf is more of a party resort with stag and hen partys. wish we had gone back to the sol tordos in palma nova like last year that was excelent. keep magaluf for the party goers

As a single mum I went to Magaluf because Ive been there before several times without my kids, this time I took my 3 year old and a 15 year old. There was plenty to do for all the ages, they have a kids club for most ages where they entertain them for you , the bars and eating places are within minutes from you but you are not in the middle of all the noise, I never heard any loud noise the whole time I was there. The hotel was clean and everyone was so friendly and always there to help, the reps where on hand all the time making sure you were ok, The entertainment was good at night so you dont even have to go anywhere else at night if you didnt want to, the staff were all great with the kids. Daytime round the pool was good the have pools for the older ones and the little ones always plenty of beds and a lifeguard which impressed me, There was an english doctor next door to the hotel free of charge for all thomsons insured which could of been handy but we never needed it. We had breakfast everyday at the moon bar which was a stones throw away I would recommend it great food great staff. Overall Great holiday Great price will be booking again for sure.

Just returned from a week self catering. Family hols for my hubbys dad(65). 18 of us in total with kids from 14 to 4. The hotel is real clean and the cleaners are in every 2nd day , even if you are in bed they will clean round you. The hotel is in the best place, away from the noisy bars but in walking distance. Close to the beach and the shops. Had a great time round the pool when we could as some days were cloudy. Benny hills at night with the kids is a good laugh and drinks prices are ok. finding a decent place to eat was a nightmare. 3 of us got dicky tummies from something Browns.. another place the food was cold and when we complained not to pay they were going to call the police!! did not go to those again so do not waste your money. On the 3rd day we got lucky and found the best place.. wish it was in our home town.. its called the Cottage and they made us feel real at home. Out of the hotel, over the road and at the bottom turn right and its next to the chemist..When they found out it was Dads birthday they let us use the bottom of the restaurant and put sandwiches and snacks out on the pool table. Believe me it is just like home cooking and really busy with locals as well as us holiday makers. The prices are cheap and the food is well hot. They helped us enjoy our holiday by advising on best places to go and what to avoid.Best breakfast and steak pie ever. We are back in July for another week so ask Rob to stock up on the San Miquels!
