THIS HOTEL HAS A GOOD LOCATION AND IS ONLY METERS AWAY FROM THE BEACH VIA A SUBWAY, THE CENTRE OF THE TOWN IS ONLY A FIVE MINUTE WALK AWAY AND HAS ALL THE USUAL TOURIST TYPE OF SHOPS, THERE IS A TRAIN STATION IN THE CENTRE OF PINEDA WHICH RUNS TO BARCELONA ON A REGULAR BASIS AND COSTS APPROXIMATELY 7 EUROS RETURN, FOR ALL FITNESS ENTHUSIASTS THERE IS A CYCLE AND A WALKING TRACK ON THE BEACH WHICH GOES FOR MILES IN EITHER DIRECTION OF THE HOTEL. THE HOTEL ITSELF IS VERY CLEAN, OFFERS A GOOD CHOICE OF FOOD IN THE BUFFET STYLE RESTAURANT AND THE STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL AND POLITE. THE ENTERTAINMENT DURING THE DAY AND NIGHT WAS EXCELLANT AND CATERERED FOR ALL AGES. THE SWIMMING POOLS WERE ALWAYS BUSY SO GET YOUR TOWELS DOWN AS EARLY IN THE MORNING AS POSSIBLE. OVERALL THE WHOLE FAMILY (2 ADULTS 2 CHILDREN AGED 14 AND 6 ) HAD A GREAT TIME AND WOULD DEFINITELY GO BACK.
Resort is in a very remote location, to the right is the town Callela, a fifteen minute walk, to the left Pineda a ten minute walk. Both very small towns selling very expensive 'cheap' products. The people staying at the hotel were mainly from Germany France and Spain there were very few Brits. It seemed to be the norm to let your kids jump in the pool over people who are sitting on the edge of the pool with no disregard to them. Also we had our ball pinched by a german boy so be aware of peronal belongings. The pools were packed with over inflatables ie dinghies with paddles that could easily have your eyes out. By the end of the week you wanted to deflate them with a pin!! The food was average with not much choice very basic. Anybody with any class should not go there a very average hotel which does not deserve a gold medal.
We came here July 2008 for a week on recommendation from a friend and loved it so much we went back for 2 weeks this year. The hotel is extremely spotless, the staff very helpful and the rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels The Thomson Reps and the Kid zone Reps did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable from taking excellent care of my daughter in the Drop in Den to providing entertainment round the pool and in the evening. They don't do the same thing every day all the activities for the children are varied all week my daughter enjoyed it so much she wanted to stay in for 3 hours not 2 which proves to me they are doing their job fantastically. It's also good for families with children in the different age related clubs as they offer a drop in den session which any age can go in so if your child does not want to be split from their sibling they can go in together. We went to the Taurus with 2 other families consisting of 2 adults and two children under 12 and they all thought the kids club and entertainment were fantastic. We all thought the food and restaurant were excellent, yes the Dining Room was extremely busy but that's because the hotel was full you can always go in later or earlier and miss the busy times. We would go for breakfast at 8.30 and it would be practically empty which meant the chef doing the show cooking could cook you your own omelette or pancake. My daughter is a fussy eater but even she found something to eat that she liked and the pudding range in the evening was spectacular. The beach is fine shingle so no sandcastles. The only downside was the prices for water and ice creams at the pool bar and the snack bar,we found the shop outside the front of the hotel to be cheaper so went there every morning to stock up for round the pool. We went to Marineland which was great ,the bird, dolphin and sea lion are amazing shows and are on from 10.30 till 12.30 so see them before going to the aqua park which does not open till 11.30. Hubby went on the Barcelona football stadium and free time tour and said it was fantastic and well worth a visit. Turn left out of the snack bar and it is only a 10min walk to Pineda shops passing a few English pubs on the way. The Tavern and The Buccaneer are very family friendly English pubs. The play area outside the front of the hotel is great big slides and little playhouses. Overall 10 out of 10 and we will definitely be going back.
Stayed at the Golden Taurus with partner and child and friends for 10 nights. Cannot fault the hotel, superbly clean, good food, excellent entertainment and great value (booked through Portland Direct). Our rooms were great, just the right size, good balconies, air-conditioned and very clean. The kids club was brilliant, good choice of activities and perfect times ( 1pm - 3pm for 6-8 year olds) which is great to get them out of the sun. The prices in the bars and snack bar were really reasonable too, approx 2,40 euros for a pint of lager, 5 euros for a pizza. All of the staff (reception, cleaners, bar and restaurant) couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The only change we would have made is to have a fridge available in the room (and available sun loungers after 7am!) As for the area, it isn't great, but there is plenty to do in the time you're there, 2 waterparks, Barcelona, zoo, etc, etc. We will return, but maybe in a couple of years to give the area time to develop a bit (quite a bit of building work going on, so looks like it could be an up and coming area). Overall, this was our best holiday yet, we loved it!
having been to this hotel 4 times before bout 8 years ago was excited to see how or if it had changed? it did not dissapoint there is now an outside bar by the main pool area's which saved us having to get changed to go into snack bar as before. we had a great time, the hotel entertainment team were fantastic, always getting you involved as much or little as you wanted without being pushy! once they knew my name that was it every night on the stage dancing. non stop activities during the day and plenty dancing by night. perfect if you like holiday's on the go or you just want to chill a quiet pool out back for that or the main activity pool with music and plenty to do. although there is not much outside the hotel you have nearby santa sussana which only cost 3 euro return plenty of shops if you fancy change of senory. it also will take you to barcelona a beautifull busy city plenty of shops and sights and of course the famous ramblers a must see street! for only 6 euro's much cheaper than if you booked through thompson. thompson reps have improved so much since last time and are much more involved in daily and night time entertainment where has previously you hardly ever saw them. but the hotel animation team were a cut above and really made our stay enjoyable definetly returning next year with family this time. food was good plenty to choose from and breakfast not to early so could still have a lie in. the only down side was the towels saving sun beds something needs to be done as some beds reserved no one sat on them untill mid afternoon very selfish! and some even putting them on at night!! all the staff are friendly and helpfull. all area's were clean to a good standard. cant wait wait for next year! good times!!
