We have been to Salou a couple of times but this time there were 8 of us including our 2 grandchildren age 3mths & 3yrs. We chose the Golden Port Salou because the rooms had a small fridge and tea & coffee making facilities. We were not dissapointed, we had requested 3 rooms close together overlooking the pool top floor if possible (these rooms have large balconies with sunbeds ) and all of our requests were met. The hotel food was the best we have ever had and everything was as descibed. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and would certainly go back again.
got back from this hotel yesterday after 1 week there. loved this hotel, rooms were a bit basic but were roomy ( ours had 2 single beds, 1 double and a couch that turned into another double!). well equipped with everything you need, cleaned daily, fresh towels daily and beds made daily. linen changed twice a week. hotel was very quiet at beginning of week no need to reserve sun loungers or rush to get to dining room or pool etc. by friday though hotel was very busy and often had to wait to be seated for meals as dining room was always full. always plenty of food, lots of choices and was absoloutley gorgeous!!! my two sons enjoyed the food to which is very rare for them as they are very fussy eaters. hotel staff very friendly and helpful especially entertainment team who work very hard to make sure there is always something fun going on throughout day and night. didn't use the spa treatments but wish i had as had alook on the last day and it all looked amazing!. my boys aged 7 and 5 loved the mini club, especially the leader nicole who was lovely and looked after them very well. loads of different sessions on throughout the day and even have a night time session starting at 9.30pm until 11.30pm. hotel in a very good location, short walk away from salou center and beach, portaventura etc. salou itself not my cup of tea, not really much to do apart from theme park ( which by the way i was a bit dissapointed with for the amount it costs to visit!) and water parks but they were not open. i'd reccommend purchasing theme park tickets from thomson rep as u get 2 days for price of 1. went on a day trip to barcelona which is a fantastic city, so much to do though so may need more than 1 visit, definatley try and visit! be careful of pick pockets though and of people driving round on scooters who also try and rob people!! on the whole salou is a good holiday for people who want to stay at hotel or those with children looking for a beach holiday and golden port is a brilliant hotel to choose.
Brill! 5 Star!
me and my fiance went here last yr with our two sons aged 2 and 5 yrs and never again, the resturant staff were friendly and food was plenty but for cleanliness the dust under the bed was a inch or more thick, the towels were dirty with holes in them and the so called club for kids which was the hut as described in the book was only for germans and russians which was not described in the book and english kids had to go in to the club inside which isnt fair. This is what i called racist against english people, there was no mini golf couse as described in the book, why its suppost to be a four star? One star thats all id give it dont go, its crap!
Thoroughly enjoyed it here :) Theres only a short walk to loads of restaurants/bars and amusements and the beach. Staff were all friendly especially the entertainment team. There were activites on each day for everyone. Drinks and food at the snack bar were good and not that expensive. The hotel's meals were nice especially breakfast. Not much choice of a tea-time though, it seem to be the same nearly every night. Overall a fantastic holiday, would highly reccommend it here.
