Just returned from another great holiday at The Blue Bay Hotel in Golden Beach on the beautiful island of Thassos (12th time to date!). Great weather - 29 degrees all week! Enjoyed a fantastic lunch of Souvlaki & Mythos in the square of Panagia, snorkelled and swam in the crystal blue waters of the bay and had some wonderful evening meals in the local tavernas. The walk up and down the hill and the warm weather did me the world of good following a short illness. Just couldn't go a year without booking my chill out week on this great little island. Met lots of people we acquainted on their first trip last year and who had also returned for another relaxing week on this authentic Greek island - which says it all really - that old Thassos bug biting again!!

The Island of Thassos was wonderful. We will probably re-visit. The Blue Bay Hotel has fantastic views across Golden Beach and the Blue Bay Hotel is clean and the friendly staff made our stay very pleasant. The resort rep was very friendly and helpful. All in all a very good Thompson holiday.

Our 4th time in thassos, beautiful island friendly locals and super greek food. Hotel blue bay is the best accommodation we have ever had especially for the superb views over the bay. The family who run this hotel are a credit to themselves and Thomson. Plenty of walks to go on, the path on the back road to Panagia is an easy walk and takes in the valleys, if you are of reasonable fitness and wear trainers. The rep James was excellent, he came every day and had so much knowledge and enthusiasm. The whole experience was over and above our expectations.

This was our second trip to Blue Bay and what a lovely relaxing time we had. Family run B and B with the most sensational views you could wish for. Welcomed warmly by the family who cannot do enough to make your stay enjoyable. Rooms are basic but spotlessly clean. Great to have a free safe, fridge and air conditioning (payable locally) available. Every room has an incredible sea and mountain view and the balcony makes a lovely place to sip a drink whilst enjoying them. It is about a 10 minute walk to nearest restaurants (a short, steep uphill section on the return journey) and a further 5 minutes to minimarkets and bus stop to Thassos Town. Unfortunately the bus service is not frequent, with only 4 or 5 departures daily. Great choice of restaurants, particular personal favourites being Viglis, Finikas, Playa d'Oro, and Captains in Skala Potamia. Golden Beach has the most fabulous 3 Km strip of sand stretching all the way to Skala Potamia at the opposite end of the bay - this is a lovely walk! Other walking opportunities exist in the hills behind the hotel both along the coast and inland to Panagia. We hired a car in order to see the rest of this beautiful island. Places of interest include ancient marble quarries at Aliki, the remains of industrial iron mining at Metallia (including a lovely beach & cafe), forest and mountain walks in Kazaviti and Maries and the amphitheatre, acropoli and archaeological museum in Thassos Town. We also joined an organised trip to the mainland to visit Philipi and the Alistrati caves which is well worth the effort. Last but not least we must mention the Holiday Rep, Kath who is helpful, knowledgeable and entertaining! We will be back!
