Hotel close to beach and local shops.
I have to say that I did not know what to expect when I booked this holiday, but I have to say I was Not disappointed. The hotel Panorama was in a great location in Es Cana, the hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly. The only down side was the buffet, which although catered for the English having a roast most days, it did not really cater for the English eating themed or Spanish dishes, and the desserts were quite bland - but having said that it was all good quality and plenty of it. The hotel was close to a lovely sandy beach, and the sea view room had a large balcony which had a stunning view. The only downside was a nightclub nearby which was noisy until the early hours. The hotel pool was lovely, plenty of sunbeds, but we did go in May. The Thompson entertainment team, were great and there were activities throughout the day. Evening entertainment was also good. I would not hesitate to recommend the Hotel Panorama to others, and the resort of Es Cana was also lovely. Well done Thompson
The food and restaurant not up to the standard of the last 2 gold hotels we have stayed at. The choose and quality of the food was not great,it did start to change slightly by the end of the week.
At the beginning of the week our table was set with only a knife,fork, paper napkin and not offer drink with our meal,by the end of the week we did have have full cutlery,linen napkins,wine glasses, and was asked if we needed drinks with our meal.
At the beginning of the week the hotel had Spanish holiday makers so we were only allocated 1 hour for breakfast and 1 1/2 hours for evening meal. this also changed by the end of the week to 2 hours for breakfast and 2 1/2 hours for the evening meal.
The rest of the hotel was of a good standard and Es Cana was a nice area with a really nice beach. Will not be making a return visit.
The good bits first. This is a lovely hotel with a great location by the beach in Es Cana. Beautiful pool area which is kept looking extremely tidy at all times and nice communal areas for socialising. Plenty of seating at all times. Visited early May and found it to be generally quiet noise wise from the surrounding bars and restaurants at night. This may not be the case from the end of May onwards.
Now the bad bits. During our stay we shared with a large party of Spanish pensioners on their government provided holiday. As a consequence the food was absolutely disgusting. At times we eat with plastic cutlery, had paper serviettes and chipped and dirty crockery. The service was a shambles and often we sat eating our main meal with our starter plates still on our table. Surrounding empty tables were also left with dirty plates and glasses for the duration of our meal. At one breakfast we counted at least 10 uncleared tables around us which had not been cleared for an hour. The drinks machines regularly broke down, usually all together. It was nothing more than a works canteen with service and food to match. Actually that may be disrespectful to some works canteens..it was just plain diabolcal. Our rooms were never cleaned properly, the maids have not worked out that removing dust with a wet mop and dirty water does nothing but leave dust in clumps once it has dried out. We know, we watched them doing it! Our room was never swept properly whilst we were there, the maids never replenished items in the bathroom as they should, one day we came back to find clean cups on tea stained saucers with tea stained spoons. On 3 occassions we came back to find our balcony doors unlocked after they were locked each time we left the room.
I am trying to make this a constructive review as we have been with Gold before in Majorca and had a great time. Many people we spoke were repeat customers at the hotel and all seemed to have good experiences in the past. We were unfortunate with the dining aspect. Things improved considerably after the Spanish left but alas for us we only had 2 days left to enjoy some decent food in the hotel.
We made an official complaint to Thompson in resort and will be following it up. We and many, many others all felt cheated as we were not provided the Gold standard and were not warned beforehand about this. I have nothing but praise for the Thompson reps at the hotel who dealt with matters as they happened.
We still had a great week.
Holidays from may 03 till may 10. Hotel great position,very clean,room serviced very well. Fab pool,great staff, we went all inc, well worth it,[book at home cheaper] pool view rooms quiet after everning music stops, sun after lunch, sea view rooms fab view over the bay but cool after lunch, very noisy till [3 till 5 in the morning locals drinking outside charlies bar then bottle banks empting at about 6] But spanish pensioners filled the hotel till may 09. the food choice and quality and display was very poor, not thomson gold at all, poor quality orange juice ,no morning chef for omelettes etc, When we asked about this we were told told dont worry it will get improve after the spanish [ mundo senior] go home on thursday[ we went home on friday] and they did not pay a lot for the holiday,never mind top price we paid, thomson reps filled in many complaint forms. following the managers welcome party we thought we must be in a different hotel,great food. jugs of fresh orange juice in the morning.better choice and display of the food,[still no omelettes etc] special mention about day time and poolside rep adam, he is MR THOMSON GOLD great guy and very hard working,well done,we were very unluky to book this week as things will be great from now on.we had a great holiday for the last 2 days.
