just back from a week in the Bitzaro Palace. we couldn't have wanted more, staff friendly, rooms clean and tidy along with gardens and pool clean and tidy. Food was a let down, every meal was a buffet and the selection was very poor and it felt like the same thing everyday, I felt for the evening meal there should have been a menu if you didn't want the buffet where you could have paid a small amount for this. went out on the main strip for dinner a few times and was pleased with the selection avalible, Michaelos was great, good service and food, the Olive Tree had nice food but the service was very disapointing, waited 20 mins to order dessert but after waiting I had to find the staff and ask for the bill, wasn't the best, Paolo's was by far the best resturant we visited and went back a couple of times, food was out of this world and the service was great, couldn't have asked for better. drink selection was good and made even better by it being free. free wi-fi which was a bonus. Hotel is near the airport but there is only a few flights a day and due to the turtles the flights don't opperate at night so sleep was peaceful. excursions where good well organised and a good choice to pick from. we hired a jeep for the day and the thompson rep helped advise us the places to stay away from (zante town due to traffic) the time of year we picked was perfect, not all the pubs / clubs were open so there wasn't many clubbers about. beach was very nice and clean, could walk to Laganos quite easy. was nice just sitting on the beach watching the turtles come up for air. have reccommended the hotel for my parents next year and would go back to the hotel in a heart beat, a great Holiday and it will be one to remember, 5th time to Greece and would go back again.

my husband and i have just returned from the bitzaro palace. it really is a lovely hotel, nice and clean everywhere, and with a good choice of well cooked food.we couldn't really fault it on anything except the bathroom which was functional but the bath was really only big enough for a child.towels were changed every other day which was fine.the room was a decent size with a nice balcony, and it was spotlessly clean considering it was at the end of the seson.there was a fridge which was handy and a kettle and cups and saucers.the pool area and gardens are nice although i dont think there would be enough sun beds in peak season. there are plenty of tables and chairs though. there is a nice walk to the beach just out of the gate and turn right down the lane, it only takes a few minutes. we thought it was the nicest beach on the island, although we didn't get to the beaches in the very north of zante. the shops and tavernas are a short walk on the main road and although there aren't a lot there's enough for a stroll round.it's a nice walk along the beach to laganas.the penguin cafe just off the beach on the main street is the cheapest it's basic but a cup of coffee here was 1euro compared with 3.50 at zante town.you do need a car if you want to sight see as the buses are not that reliable and actually stopped running while we were there as it was nearly the end of the season. the good thing was the car hire was cheaper £60 for three days but petrol was expensive. the roads are quite decent to drive on although some of the road signs don't correspond with the ones on the map. we were a bit disappointed with zante on the whole compared to corfu as there doesn't seem to be much culture and few interesting places to visit. the turtles are the main interest but are rare in october.if it's a relaxing beach holiday you're lookin for though this is the place.

We had a 10 day stay at the Bitzarro Palace in Kalamaki and it was perfect. The hotel is clean friendly and very very quiet. This is just what we were after. People who liked some evening entertainment could use the facilities at the nearby Bitzarro Palace. We did not bother with that...

The swimming pool is extremely well kept and of a good size with beautiful trees all around. Ideal to relax. The beach is nearby the hotel and but not particularly attractive. However, just a few minutes walk on the sand there is another beach which is prettier and great to spend the day. We went to see the turtles on a very modern and slick little boat with glass bottom. That was great, although most turtle leave the island end of September we still managed to have a very good look at two huge specimens. The tour by boat around the island was great too as we were lucky with the weather, but I hear that it gets often changed or cancelled at the last minute because of winds. Bear in mind that it is quite long (8 and a half hours!! Including a couple of swimming stops though which were fabulous).

We were on full board and the food at the hotel was really very good and covered all tastes. It was much better than what we had when we went to eat out of the hotel.

The staff is very friendly and there is nothing negative to say. Only that it was the first time we had to wear a wristband, but taking into consideration everything it gave us access to, I can't wait to wear one again!!!

We found the Bitzarro Palace a very average hotel not worthy of a 4T rating. The bathroom is the smallest i've ever seen in a 4 T hotel and the room cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Towels are only changed every other day which i've also never experienced in a 4T hotel. More positive the food was good with a varied selection. No entertainment at all in the hotel. Staff were all very friendly. Excursions by Thomsons very very expensive. Kalamaki itself is quite dreary. If your idea of a holiday is X Factor, premier league football, and Karaoke washed down with english beer you've found the ideal resort. many of the guests have been coming to this hotel for more thas 15 years so they must like it. I note however that nearly all the superior rooms overlooking the pool were occupied by these guests. Weather was good but i'm afraid that this will be the one and only visit to Zante for us. Back to Kephalonia

We had a lovely relaxing week at the Bitzaro Palace hotel in Kalamaki. The food was very good, the hotel was clean and the staff all very pleasant. The free drink with each meal was a nice surprise! Also, the Thomson rep Hana was a very bright, helpful, cheerful girl and did her best to ensure everyone enjoyed their stay. The hotel pool area was clean and spacious and had plenty of sunbeds, but the pool was very cold - nice and refreshing on a very hot afternoon, but most people agreed that the sea was warmer than the pool. The beach was close by and very clean with a good taverna overlooking the water for a refreshing drink. Just took one trip, the Simply Zante tour of the island, which we enjoyed, but were disappointed we couldn't go to the blue caves because of choppy seas. However, the guide on this trip, Kay, was very informative about the island and all in all it was a good day. I would recommend this holiday for couples / friends looking for a relaxing time in good standard accommodation.
