The apartment itself was a lot better than we expected as it was not too expensive at all. We didn't really use the balcony as it didnt get much sun which was a little disappointing, but the apartment was a good size, the bathroom was really clean and seemed quite new and the self catering was well stocked in terms of pans etc. As we are a young couple it was a bit more family oriented than we would normally choose, but it was so cheap we went for it anyway. In the end this actually meant it was quite a lively and friendly hotel with a lot of helpful staff. The pools are great aswell as you can choose to either go to the main one or to a quiter one away from the crowds. the resort itself was not to my taste as it was hard to find a restaurant that didn't just serve british type food. I prefer something a bit more local when I'm on holiday and the main places selling this type of food were quite expensive. However Ciutadella is only about a 40min walk or 20min bus ride away, and while this isnt cheap either there is a lot more choice and is really beautiful. However, as with the most of the places we saw in menorca, the beaches are lovely and there are two within very close distance of Talyot. Most of the drinks are quite cheap around aswell which is good if you want a break from the noise in the hotel and want to go to a local bar. I would probably go again as the hotel was really convinient and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, but I would prefer a more authentic resort. It was also extremely quite outside of the hotel and didn't seem to be much going on at most of the local restaurants and bars. Having said that, we went in early in May and things may pick up later on, a number of places opened up during the week we were there so it may get more lively further into the season. I would say Talyot is a good, cheap base with lots of activity in the hotel, but it is worthwhile exploring the island if you can.
