Was not told at all that there was a dress code for dining. On first day was hassled by people from outside the hotel in the hotel grounds to sign up for trips and they did not want to take no for a answer. Entertainment was poor and have seen better at a kids club. Was told incorrect price for a game of bingo and person running the event was all over any lady staying in the hotel. We visited the beach and all I can say is it was dirty fag butts all over and rubbish all over beach. I know weather can not be controlled but we were told by agent when booking that the weather is good that time of the year but that was wrong we had two days of sun and the rest was cold and some times rainy. Next time we will not follow advise from agent complete waste of money and disapointing first holiday as a couple. Would never visit tunisia again.

Firstly I would like to state that this review has been written after making over a dozen visits to the Royal Kenz since the year 2000. My wife and I consider ourselves to be loyal customers. I travelled to the Kenz by myself for a week 12th December to 19th December 2012 and then with my wife for a week 26th December 2012 to 02nd January 2013. When we first visited the Kenz it was a first class 4 star Thomson Gold hotel, over the years things have changed for the worse and I fell the standard has dropped in a lot of areas and the hotel can only be classed as an average 3 star hotel. We visited the Kenz for Xmas 2011 and the decline in standard over the year was very apparent. In December 2012 I was still impressed with the reception check in, room quality and cleanliness. Unfortunately the food quality was only average, most meals were cold (only microwave was broken). There were a lot of head waiters about but they seemed to be not keeping their eyes on what was going on. The waiters were great. The behavior of some clients was disgusting, swearing and throwing up in public areas. Is this because of the introduction of the all inclusive option? In defence of the bar staff, the majority were great, considering since the introduction of the all inclusive option they may have had a reduction in they wages (no tips). The animation team were very poor. The bought in acts were good. The Al a Carte restaurant was first class. I travelled home concerned that I had made the wrong decision to return again for the New Year. I returned with my wife on Boxing Day for a week which covered New Year. I was still impressed with the reception, room quality and cleanliness. The food quality had improved and was a lot warmer (microwave still broken). Head waiters seemed to have got they act together. The waiters were great. New Year Gala dinner and bought in entertainment was first class. The behavior of clients had improved but still swearing in public areas. The bar staff, the majority were great. The animation team were still very poor. The Al a Carte restaurant was first class. I do not know if Thomsons have pushed the Kenz into the all Inclusive option or the top management at the Kenz decided on it. If they are to carry on with the all inclusive option, to help the Kenz staff they should only offer this option not also Half/Full Board. I doubt if us and other loyal customers vistors will return unless things improve.

We booked to stay at the Royal Kenz for a Birthday(Nov 2012). We booked over 6 months in advance and loved the fact that it was an all adult hotel 4T Platinum Hotel - Posh we thought!!. We arrived excited to stay at this Platinum Hotel and was immediately taken aback by the lack of upkeep of the gardens etc for a hotel of this alleged calibre. Once we got off the coach entered the Hotel - more confirmation and questions WHY ON EARTH IS THIS CLASSIFIED AS A 4T PLATINUM HOTEL? There was not one thing which I could recommend as plush or luxurious. This hotel is distinctly average, in fact it was on par with a 2 star hotel I stayed at in Dubai called the Phonecia Hotel But at least then I knew what I was getting! The staff were very friendly and are the redeeming feature of this hotel. The location of the beach isn't as advertised in the brochure - Which was very important for me as I have mobility problems it is MUCH further away and isn't very nice at all. The hotel has a VERY limited bar if you drink alcohol. They even made me teetotal as the Vodka was awful and should maybe reserved as fuel for the plane!! The best service by far was in the A' La Carte restaurant which gave the standard of service which I would have expected for the advertised level of luxury throughout the Royal Kenz. The main pool which you see in the pic for the hotel was closed for the entire week. Although I have to say the indoor pool is also very nice. All in all our visit to the Royal Kenz was a bit of a disappointment and I wouldn't stay there again or recommend it to anyone under the age of say 60 years (Honestly the average age of most of clientele). The reps were great, lovely girls. Thomson need to re-write the description of this hotel and DEFINITELY take it out of their Platinum Collection. If I thought it would do any good I would write a letter of complaint to Thomson, but I doubt it would change anything - after all they have our money! I will go back to Tunisia, but will do much more research before I part with my money!! Marks out of 10 Tunisia 8 Thomson 4 shame on you!

Arrived at midday to find room not ready, told by rep world check in time is 2pm. If that's the case why get us there 2 hours early? Basically reps attitude stank. I've travelled to many countries & stayed in several Thomson hotels in the last 7 years ( this will be the last!) he talked to me as if it were my first time abroad and I shouldn't question him. He was very unhelpful, he would be more suited to being a traffic warden. Took holiday with my with and was not impressed that we had to sit with another couple ( who were very nice) but I planned a quiet holiday with her. The Royal Kenz a platinum hotel? That's a joke and it was on us. Does every superior room come with cupboard doors hanging off? At meal times the tables were never laid properly, we were always taking cutlery & cups from other tables. You only get teaspoons at breakfast, then the waiter takes them from his pocket! Service in the restaurant & bars was the worst ever, never more than one barman serving at anytime tough just had to queue. The only thing the hotel has going for it is the Spa- I have to say FANTASTIC. All in all sorry Thomson we were hugely disappointed with the overall standard and after being loyal these past years youv'e lost us as customers. To cap it all we arrived home to find our padlocks had been removed from our suitcases at one of the airports ( we flew from Luton) and both cases had been rifled through. Says it all really!
