Weather not good which affects overall impression ! However, hotel friendly and staff very attentive and helpful. Rooms and meals very acceptable although occassionally busy in dining area, particularly at breakfast. Mainly due to large influx of Spanish at weekends. Hotel situate at edge of resort and at least 10-15 minutes walk from the centre of activity, ie decent bars/restaurants etc although taxis readily available - you do not always want to spend #10 every night just getting to and from the activity. Local beaches are all black sand, but then one appreciates that this is a volcanic island. Buses available from bus station only some 100 yds from hotel and access all parts of the island. Loro Parque within easy walking distance but beware adult entrance fee is $31.50 - whilst a deserving cause just a little expensive for a day at the zoo. Organised trips are also relatively expensive - eg trip to see Mount Teide was $28 each adult and was really a glorified coach trip showing view points readily available to anybody with a car ! Overall and as this was a first trip to Tenerife the holiday was fine and acceptable for the price paid. Puerto de la Cruz is a bit cut off if you want lively discos and bars and designer shopping - if that is the case go to the south, Los Christianos or Playa de la Americas. Thomson flights to and from Bristol were on time and OK but leg room atrocious - plane felt overloaded and overcrowded. Extra leg room seats available at $33 per person - rather expensive and at the end of the day space taken by people standing waiting for the toilets ! Thomson Rep was available but hardly saw in hotel - welcome meeting lacking and not even a complimentary orange juice !! No real complaints and as stated it was a value for money holiday. Just have to do a bit more research next time and perhaps pay a little more !!

This Hotel ..Now named Lullaby seemed to cater for a lot of Spanish OAPs ..some sort of free holiday from the Spanish Gov They were everywhere except the Bar area ....(Because they had to pay for any drinks ) they sat around playing cards playing Bingo ...and sat in the Entertainment lounge every night ..which catered for them , mostly spanish themed The food was average ...lots of pasta dishes if you could get past the spanish to get to any .. Rooms again average ...hotel on 2 sides busy roads ...we were on the 10 floor and I could still hear road traffic ..so the lower floors must of as well . The staff try really hard to keep the hotel clean etc ...but there didnt seem to enough of them , in places the hotel does look past its best ...not a 4 star ..maybe a 2 + At times when the Bars got busy the staff looked really stressed out at meal times also the waiters ... Overall....rating for the Hotel 5 out of 10 looked Tired The Resort ...6 out of 10 The resort in places look like a ghetto , graffitii on walls etc , dogs mess on the pavements The Town area sea front area looked fine ...beaches Black sand The Thomson Rep ...didnt even bother to check everyone onto the coach home names etc ..he didnt stay on the coach to the airport , not interested .... Would I return to this Hotel Resort ..... No

The hotel is well situated Staff are really helpful My Husband was unwell and the reception were brilliant to get a doctor, taxi etc and to speak to the taxi driver for me. Food was very good and the hotel was very clean as was Porta Del La Cruz and the people were so polite Would certainly go back to that area of Tenerife and also to the same Hotel. The Holiday was really good.

It is worth spending a few extra #s to go all inclusive at this hotel, if you miss any of the main sittings, there is still a wide variety available from the pool kiosk and bar. All facilities are within a few minutes walk of the hotel and a good view of the beach can be seen from the rooms on the northern side. A trip to Lorro Park and Mount Teide are a "must do" The resort is very lively, but is not really geared for families with children. This side of the island is nearly always windy, but even in early March, the temperature was in the mid 20's. Overall, an enjoyable weeks holiday.

We have been staying at The Florida Hotel(now The Luabay)regularly since 1986 and we have always had a great time. Most of the Reception Staff and the Waiters have been there at least as long as we have been going so we always get a warm welcome whenever we arrive. The hotel is always very clean in all areas ie. rooms and all communal areas and the staff are always very helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect. The beach is only about 3 minutes walk and you can easily walk to the Loro Park (approx.15 mins.) or into the town centre (about 15 minutes). The whole resort is very Spanish as it is an old town with many residents. Some people are under the misconception that Puerto de la Cruz is a cold part of the island. What rubbish ! In all the years we have been going (we always got between September and April)the temperature has never been below 20 - 39 deg during the day and we have never known it lower that 15 deg at night. You can't tell me that's cold ! OK so it does sometimes get a little cloudy in the afternoon but it always clears by about 4 pm and it's still warm despite any cloud. I suppose that if you just want to lie in the sun all day long maybe you should go to the south of Tenerife. However, if like us, you like to sunbathe for a while and then walk into the town centre and visit one of the many cafe/bars and then have a stroll around the harbour or the many shops then Puerto de la Cruz is the place to go. It is a very pretty and colourful resort - flowers everywhere and the grass is so green. Much more so than in the south. So you pay your money and make your choice. For us it is The Luabay in Puerto de la Cruz.
