Superb holiday truly four star no faults, manager first class plus, well done Thomson.
We are now into double figures the amount of times we have been to this Hotel. Normally go twice a year. Unfortunately Thomson, although we all know there is a credit crunch and cutbacks have to be made, last years comments regarding the poor entertainment must have gone straight over your head. It was atrocious and I am sorry to say, listening to the other guests, you are going to have an even harder year next year. Talk about false economy, only a couple of outside acts a week and the Gold Production team having to work about 80 hours a week (repeating many of the shows of last year). Therefore, 60 per cent of the guests went outside for their entertainment. I am sure the Hotel will notice a vast cut in bar takings. I would not stop going to the Hotel because of this as I do not blame them and everything else is first class. However, should it not improve, I am sure this will not stay a Thomson Gold for much longer.
The food at the los ganantes is not like it was a few years ago, we had a meal in the restaurant when we stayed at the royal sun at los gigantes, but we have just come back from the hotel and the food is not 4 star now, the sweets every night were the same thing ie.jelly, small and larege cakes, and ice cream, no hot plate cooking on Sundays ie fish or meat cooked in front of you, we found dirty glasses, chipped cups, and some of the cutlery had not been cleaned well,ie egg still on forks ect, definitively NOT 4 STAR, one other problem in the restaurant if your face fitted with the restaurant manager(crossed his hand with money) you could sit on the same table every night and no one was aloud to sit on that table until they had used it.
we find ourselves on our 2nd thompson gold holiday, will it match up to the 1st we wondered. having arrived in resort after an hours transfer we were greeted at the coach door by staff and management. taken passed reception with its magnifecent wooden ceiling into alounge area where we were welcomed with aglass of refreshing bucksfizz. to our surprise we were taken into the dinning room for a cold buffet; this being after ten o'clock at night.
after our first nights rest in comfortable beds we woke to stunning views over the harbour and the mountains beyond.
breakfast times and the eveaning meals were atime for deliberation as there was so much choice with both a hot and cold selection, all beautifully presented
overall this hotel is a relaxing place and a place to unwind with daytime fun organized by the thompson staff. we took two of the planned days out which we feel will allways be full of happy memories, the trip up to lore parque with its dolphin, orca wales and sealion shows. and the catermaran trip out to see live dolphins swimming with there younge ,a truly fantastic sight.
This was our first visit to Las Gigantes Hotel, would we return? definately. A very picturesque resort, not too busy, a lively atmosphere with various good entertainment bars. The hotel is excellent, very friendly, clean, good selection and quality of food and on the festival night one must show appreciation for the work and effort that goes into making the dining room extra special. Large clean rooms, plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. The four very talented young members of the entertainment team, Darren, Craig, Sam and Amanda worked very hard and suceeded in providing a variety of day and evening activities with full support by an equally talented duo 'Sophistication'. Thomas the restaurant manager was known to everyone by his welcome when you entered the dining room. All staff at the hotel could not have been more helpful and friendly in trying to make your holiday with them as comfortable as possible. The views from our balcony sea view were wonderful.
