first trip ever to portugal, chose hotel and resort as just wanted a quiet holiday. very pleased hotel clean views from balcony lovely, looking out on to the beach. rooms spotless as was the rest of the hotel, there is a spa onsite. town just a short walk away where plenty of restaurants and shops. friendly and relaxing place to visit. would definitely go again to same hotel and resort.

Very nice small hotel good position overlooking the beach .lovely infinity pool with plenty of shade if you want to get out of the sun most sun beds are in complete shade by 3 pm . The food was very good plenty of fish dishes pork chicken salads etc waiters friendly . Steps or lift to the beach that was cleaned every day, sun beds 14.50 a day for 2 beds + umbrella some lovely beach front restuarants just a short walk along the beach .Would recommend a speed boat ride to see the dolphins the boat ride alone is worth going on very exhilarating we did see 4 dolphins although it's not guaranteed also Fiesa sand sculptures was certainly worth a visit

We stayed at the Rocamar in 1979 on our 1st visit to the Algarve, it was good then and still is. It has a brilliant location at the western end of the fishermans beach away from the hustle and bustle of the old town and the strip. The hotel has been total re-furbished since our last visit, and overall the place is now modern in decor and has a very relaxed feel to it. Most guests were Dutch, German and English and on average were like us 50+.The staff were very friendly and helpful and most have worked there many years. The room we had was a sea view on the 5th and top floor this gave us wonderful views of the whole beach, the room was smallish and the bathroom fittings somewhat dated. The breakfast was buffet style and had all the usual options although more fresh fruit and better quality juices would have been nice. The 3rd floor infinity pool and decked area is a nice feature but the pool is too small and cold to be used by many guests, we did not eat dinner at the hotel although it looked good value at 12.50 euros. The many good standard restaurants in the area give you such a good choice it hard to know where to start recommending them but the Tres Corones just by the church was as good as ever and the last of the traditional sea food beach resaurants the Rey del a mare was a bit dear but excellent for a 2hr fresh fish lunch on a saturday. Average dinner with wine was costing around 35 euros which is what we would pay at home. Our Avis hire car was excellent pick up at the office in the old town no delivery charge ! Alvor beach and the new nature reserve board walk is a must the beach bar there does excellent salads and the owner is captain of his local football team and a sport fanatic very good value food. We had a good holiday and our transfers were efficent as were the Thomson couriers.
