Have returned from a week at the Auramar today. My husband and I did not have high expectations as reviews for this hotel were very mixed but we decided to take a chance on it. So wish we hadn't! The room we had (D Block, 410) was nothing like the light and airy room shown in the Thomson website details. It was dark, dingy and definitely in need of updating. The mattresses are made out of concrete blocks and really aren't conducive to a good nights sleep. Neither are the slamming doors! The balcony which gave a partial sea view has a massive tree in front of it which blocks light from the room. In the bathroom - although everything worked, there were a few issues too. The shower head had a snakelike mind of its own. I had to warn my husband not to jiffle when sitting on the loo as it felt as though it would not take too much before the toilet removed itself from the floor fixings. Room rant over, now to the restaurant......suffice to say we ate out several times during the week. The food was particularly boring and not anywhere near approaching standards of other all inclusive hotels we have stayed in. All meat was overcooked and dry, salad choice was very limited; if you got bacon for breakfast one day, you knew it would be sausages the next; all hot drinks were from machines some which provided a better quality than others but none matched a 'fresh' cup of coffee flavour. I lived on processed cheese and bread rolls for the main part of the week (at all 3 meals of the day!). Does wonder for the diet but I wasn't trying to lose weight!!!!! I'm a white wine drinker but at this hotel it was undrinkable; all soft drinks are cheap variations and it seems as if most of the spirit based drinks had been watered down. So sad really as the hotel location is lovely. The steps which a lot of people seem to mention didn't bother us but we're relatively mobile - I could see how they might be a hindrance to some people. In summary if mealtimes and quiet drinks followed by a good night's sleep are high on your holiday priority list then the Auramar is definitely not the place for you. We can highly recommend the Chilli Pepper Restaurant/Lounge bar which sits at the entrance to the hotel.

This hotel was in a good location the pools were lovley Shame has they was a lots of hen and stag partys there the men were really drunk they were being sick any were ... collapsing on the spot it was not nice ...loud around the pool swearing really drunk luck would have it they was another pool ..Real shame has the hotel would have been nice but for them, no dress conduct has well for your evening meal ...they were all dressed up as some or other loud again in the dinning room .........spoiled our hoilday .............

First impression on entering the hotel was that the reception area was very dark and uninviting staff behind the desk did not seem helpful or happy.We did not receive a Thomsons welcome pack and there was no Thomsons information book in the travel advisors room. We were on the third floor and the lifts would not carry any more than two people but stated on the board inside the lift that it carried up to four people.For being all inclusive there was no shower gel, shampoo or shower cap in the bathroom, there was no bottles of drinking water in the fridge and when I asked in reception for some they told me to go to the bar down at the pool which was down five flights of stairs where I asked and was told that if I wanted any bottled water I would have to pay for it. The first night it rained and rain water came under the door from the balcony and was also on the inside of the window sill.As for the for the food there was not a great variety of choice. The only all inclusive bar was down three flights of stairs as the bar in the reception was not classed as all inclusive. The chairs around the pool were in a very dangerous condition (backs and arms broken) etc .Fruit in the pool bar was mouldy and not very appertizing.Access to the beach was closed as they were working on the beach Thomsons did not inform us before we went. During the day there was no all inclusive bar up near the indoor swimming pool. I think the Auramar needs to be updated and staffed with happier people. But the rest of our holiday was enjoyed to the full.
