Stayed here for 10 days May, having been recommended by friends and thought as it was a cruise and stay hotel it would be great. Hotel is lovely, staff are great, rooms comfortable (beds a little hard),extremely clean, beds changed every 3 days, towels daily. According to what we were told by other visitors who had been there previously on numerous occasions, the food had gone severely downhill. The food was not what we have come to expect from a Thomsons 4T hotel, one evening the roast beef on the menu was replaced by fish, the only meat option left was roast lamb which was in fact a sort of stew with large bones and very little meat! The following evening the roast beef was back on the menu, but not for long, it soon ran out and there was almost a riot in the dining room. The show cooking was pathetic - mini hamburgers or grilled meat - often not cooked through to the middle. The pasta carbonara which was excellent the first week changed the second time round and was awful. Sweets consisted of jelly, blancmange or mousse type dishes or ice cream. Thomsons should really take a look at this hotel or it will not have any bookings next year. We were also unfortunate to have a lot of people in the hotel who took rather too much advantage of the all inclusive drinks and were very noisy and rowdy. If you are unfortunate enough to go here, the hotel is well situated across from a lovely beach and with easy access to buses to explore the area. The reps were great and we hope Alex has recovered.
hotel was spotless, tucked away, easy to get to the beach, literally justround the corner, local shops about 800m away, apart from a local supermarket and coffee shop where u can play pool if u like, but the hotel caters for everyone, the entertainmnt team do a great job to keep everyone occupied, theyre relentles at putting on quizzes, games, boules, duck shooting, dart competitions, and most evenings have a professional act brought in, and we had 2 nights of the team singing musicals which was great.the reception staff are friendly, all speak english, you can tell they want u to have a fab holiday, it matters, and the all inclusive range of drinks are branded label not local brands, we had a really lovely holiday, would definitely go back there.
This was our second visit to the Hotel. Exactly as described and very close to facilities and lovely beach. We found the service excellent even though very busy. The food was varied so there should be something to satisfy all tastes. There was a short queue at the bar most times but the service was quick - but at the end of day who cares your on holiday and not going anywhere. The entertianment was basic but fun. We enjoyed it so much we have rebooked for 2011 I thoight the Tompson Holiday staff could have been little more co-operative and the airport staff (thompsons) incompetant. Almost missed the plane due to their lack of knowledge.
" We're sorry to hear the rep service you received was disappointing. We strive to provide the best possible service with regards to all aspects of your holiday and can assure you that we will be looking into this further. "
Just arrived back from The Platja Dor and what a great time we had. The hotel is spotless and staff were excellent. The Thomson's reps were fantastic and were there every day and evening. The food was good, with always fair range of dishes to choose from. The bar staff were great fun and very efficient. The rooms were just a fine size, beds a little hard but ok. Great shower in bathroom. The entertainment at night was ok, more of a sing-a-long really, well for us it was. The mime act Cosmic were excellent, never seen that kind of act before, very clever. Keith was fab and great fun, we didn't find him offensive at all, like some of the previous reviews had stated. Great singer too, should be in the west end. Tracey also worked hard at keeping us all entertained and was good fun. The location of this hotel is fab, situated right on the beach and what a beach it is too. You can walk for miles, but there are a few good beach bars along the way if you get thirsty. We will definately be going back next year sometime.
We have just returned from the Platja Dor and were terribly disappointed. This was supposed to be an all inclusive holiday. The food was appalling. The selection was take or leave it. The snacks were the same every day bread, meat and cheese no one bothered after the first time. The main meals were very poor, with poor quality food and no choice. Having been on lots of all inclusive holidays this was by far the worst. We got less food than we have had on a half board holiday. People were living on jacket potatoes, chip sandwhiches and cheese and tomato sandwiches. Tracy the entertainment manager kept this hotel going and without her it would be nothing. The reps were no more use than chocolate fire guards. I asked three questions that they could not help me with any. Very disappointed that the hotel did not supply pool towels, and there was no such thing as shampoo or shower gel not even a shower cap. It is these extras that make my holiday. I have not taken towels on my holiday for the past 15 or so years as they have always been supplied. Entertainment was quite good.
