Have just returned from our second visit to this adults only hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is just looking for a relaxing week. It is real value for money. The staff are excellent. It is opposite a great beach where there are plenty of trees to find shade under. For the more energetic you can walk into the port of alcudia of an evening but it takes about an hour. However it is a nice walk. It is easy to get a taxi back C'an Picafort is a short taxi ride away if you want a change. It costs 8 euros but 11 euros after 9pm. You don't really need to spend any money if you are happy to stay at the hotel. A newspaper costs 1 euro 80. There are plenty of books left by other visitors to read or swop your own. The entertainment is low key. Evening acts are in a separate building so you can sit outside and chat without being disturbed. There is some daytime entertainment but unless you sit on top of the pool you can avoid this if its not your thing. It is cheaper to book on the internet and is cheaper the earlier you book. Best for couples. Most couples are 40 to 50s age group but some are younger or older. Would suit anyone who isn't into a lot of nightlife. There are plenty of bars in the area if you fancy a change from the hotel.
just returned from our 7th visit to the platja dor hotel as usual we haqd a very good time hotel very clean staff very polite and helpful bar staff still the very best paco and his staff are top class thomsons reps very helpful the only down side from our other visits was the change to the entertainments staff tracy is still exellent but we found keith the new entertainer to loud and abrupt and at times down right rude would be more suited to a family hotel with his childish behaviour many other people felt the same as we did have not made up our minds if we will return for our 8th visit because of this tracys partner bruce was far better suited to the job
We stayed 12 -23rd July and had a wonderful relaxing holiday. The rooms are basic but they are clean. The bar service is excellent and all the staff are very helpful. The quality of the food was very good but the menu options were limited and should be reviewed. All inclusive drinks were good and so was the evening entertainment. There were smokers but smoking wasn't allowed inside the buildings. On trip advisor there was a negative comment about Keith the onsite entertainer but he was a great guy and had a good sense of humour. We had plenty of lazy mornings and often didn't get to the pool until 10am and always got a sunbed, but if you can't there is the fabulous beach, the sea is clear, clean and so warm, definitately no chill factor when you go in for a swim. We have been to most of the caribbean islands and this beach matchs anywhere in the caribbean. If you want an all British, adults only hotel which is relaxing then this is the place for you.
We returned from our holiday on 15th July, it was our second visit to this hotel and we were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived we felt like we had come home, the head waiter Rafeal remembered us as soon as we walked into the resturant and thanked us for returning. the food was great with plenty of variety for everyone. The room was spotlessly clean and all the staff are very friendly. I would recommend reserving your sun lounger on the beach if you know you are going to be using them every day.we prefer the beach as there is a cool breeze off the sea from lunchtime onwards, but be careful not to burn as it is very deceptive. The entertainment could do with a little reviewing, we found Keith one of the enertainers to be a little over the top and this put us off going to any of the shows, but aside from this we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have already been looking to book for next year!
Despite other reviews which were a little negative, we had a super holiday with good weather which wasn't too hot. The food was good and we always found more than enough to choose that we really enjoyed, including some of the best beef I have ever eaten! It was always possible to wait for a new tray of hot food and the food was replenished right the way through to the end of the meal time. The bar staff were excellent - so quick and efficient and unfailingly polite despite some awkward customers!! Once we had worked out that we could ask for Malibu and get the cheaper version with no cost it was great. There is a menu which does help people like us who are not used to all inclusive. Perhaps my only niggle was the waiters collecting glasses so often in the show time. They could have left it 15 mins or so! It was great to be so near the beautiful beach, although I would have liked to see the sea more from my balcony! I don't remember reading about the lake in other reviews but that was very calm and over all I was struck by the beauty of Mallorca. The entertainment staff worked hard and grew on us! Keith has an interesting way of getting people to join in the games! Some Scrabble or card games would have been good but the clientele maybe would not go for it! Overall an excellent time for us both.
