Wow, this holiday was the best holiday I have ever experienced! The location is fabulous on the beach, next to a nature reserve AND in a lovely town! Me, my mum, dad and older sister stayed at the Son Baulo for 14 days but this wasn't long enough - i would of stayed forever if I could! The hotel is lovely, clean, modern and comfortable. Rooms are basic but comfortable and clean, although beds could use new matresses (but some people like a firm mattress anyway). Bathrooms are modern and very clean. The staff are ALL friendly and helpful, receptionists, waiters, barmen and cleaners. For evening entertainment, you simply MUST visit the Crazy Horse Bar, just a 30 secondd walk from the hotel. The charming Paco and his wife will welcome you with open arms. Paco's nightly quiz is fantastic fun, and he is VERY funny. We were very sad to say goodbye to him on our last night. We also used to visit him at lunchtime for our midday pizza or sandwhich. We went on the beach every day,you can always find sunbeds there although you day have to pay every day. The fresh-fruit selling man walks up and down the shore, you will quickly learn his call of Coco-ananas-coco-melonnn! and others! He sells fresh melon, coconut and best of all: sweet juicy pineapple, our favourite!!! Be amazed by his friut chopping skills as well! Also the Thompson reps were lovely and friendly! During the day, if we din't go to Paco's we ate lunch at the hotel. The outside eating area is lovely as you are practically sitting on the beach! All the waiters at the bar were fantastic and happy. I went on a horse riding trip for an hour that was advertised in the hotel reception. It's not for the faint-hearted or fussy, but was exciting and went through lovely scenery of beach and forest. Altogether just an amazing, relaxing enjoyable holiday !!! Fantastic weather was great also.
Arrived late in evening 14th Oct and were allocated a spacious non smoking room (room 304)with a pool view as our request, this also got the sun on the balcony for much of the day.Very Good We had to hurry down to dinner because of the late arrival and the dining room was due to close. The food on offer was poor, dried up and fairly cold but we put it down to being late and almost closing time. The menu for each day looked excellent. The reality was that the food quality was, in our view, very poor. Most veg appeared to be of the frozen variety as were the chicken breasts. The peaches, pineapple, fruit salad etc appeared to have come out of tins. Most evenings we had soup, salad and desert and gave the main course a miss.We rated the food as school dinner quality. Having read the reviews praising the food it seemed as if we were in a different hotel. We are used to 3* hotels who serve fresh food. Cleanliness. Yes the hotel looks clean and in general it is ok. Clean towels every day and bedding changed twice. However look a bit closer and the shortcuts become clear. Our bathroom mirror was not cleaned for 6 days. We cleaned it ourselves each day, after the cleaner left. A cigarette end, found on the enclosed balcony when we arrived, was still there when we left. On day 6 we were out from 9.00am to 2-50pm and the room had not beeen cleaned or the beds made. The cleaners were gone. A visit to reception, who were always very helpful, and a cleaner arrived within 30 mins. This one even cleaned the bathroom mirror for the first time. By the time we left there was fairly thick dust on all the furniture, it had not been dusted all week.Wonder what the Kitchen is like!! We had coffee in the lounge, once, and left it.The german hotel next door, also a 3* was far better.Considering the food quality in Son Baulo we decided to eat our lunch in the german hotel and it was excellent there. A number of Son Baulo guests also joined us on an evening as the atmosphere was much better. Sorry to say but this Thomson 3* was a big letdown and not up to their usual standards and we will not reurn
resort quiet but it was october. hotel was always spotless, rooms and towels changed every day.food was always decent choices. breakfasts were excellent. enterainment in the hotel was rubbish but it was late october. pollensa and alcudia only a bus ride away . but be prepaired to be squashed on the bus ... we must of had 200 people on one trip...the weather always makes the holiday and we had 5 days out of 7 with sunny weather.. pool is very cold .only polar bears in it.the hotel bar for drinks and snacks was cheaper than other bars which was a suprise.our room was 4th floor overlooking the pool area which was great for listening to to the ducks in the nature reserve behind the hotel. overall cant fault the holiday especially for the price £800 for 3 people half board...cheap as chips
Our sea view was unbelievable taking in the sea and the start of the nature park. The walk through the woods or along the shore was fantastic, we loved it so much. There is also another Albufera at the opposite end of Can Picafort which is breathtaking. The whole area is wonderful. The weather was mixed very hot but we had a bit of a storm but found a wee shop in a back street selling anoraks and we were sorted, but the sun came out again although it would not have spoiled our holiday if it didn't. The hotel reps were very helpful and the hotel staff were fine but the food was not what we have been used to getting at other hotel, a hit or a big miss. The odd night food was really good but other nights a school dinner would be better very very dissapointing although even this did not spoil our holiday. The entertainment was sometimes good sometimes not worth staying in for, but we went up to The Picafort park gold hotel where the entertainment was great. All in all a great holiday
We stayed at this hotel for the first time on 7th Oct 2010. We arrived at 9pm and were made to feel very welcome by the lovely receptionist. The resturaunt closes at 9.30pm and she told us we would get our keys once we had eaten, which was great when we had 3 young children. Even though it was about to close there was still a large selection of food and was fantastic. The whole time we stayed here, the food was always lovely with lots of choice and was always hot. The chef on a morning was fantastic, he always had a treat for the kids and made a point of talking to them. Resturaunt is very very clean! Rooms were very spacious and the cleaners were fantastic and very friendly. Always talked to the kids and they look like they enjoy their job. The bar is lovely with the bestest bar men/ waiters in the whole world by far...they are genuinly lovely friendly people and on our last night insisted we had a drink and a photo with them, and we bought them all a round too and they were very grateful. We used to leave a tip for them everytime and they always looked after us. It is on a lovely beach with lovely clear waters, sea was warmer then the pool but it is October. Alex and Viv the reps were great, we got a task of trashing their room one day and was great watching Alex clear it up, just a shame my kids told him it was me that trashed it. They have left for winter now but will be back in the summertime. Bought Alex a thankyou drink on his last day but unfortunatly Viv had already left so never got the chance. The poolbar is very nice, again with great service and the pool/poolside got cleaned every morning. There is a childrens playground, baby pool, splash pool and the main pool. There is a lovely river that runs down the side of the hotel onto the beach and a nature reserve just behind the river. Kids club was good, had a chocolate party one night and got covered from head to toe in chocolate, there is a soft play there to for children under 3. Breakfast is served 8am - 10.15am and evening meal is 6.30pm - 9.30pm. We loved it so much we are going to book 2wks in Aug as 1 week wasnt enough. Had a lovely 5 hour boattrip one day to formentor and included a picnic, sangria and juice for kids. Stopped to let people jump in the sea. All staff worked their butts off and everyone ensures you have a fantastic time! This for us was the bestest holiday by far and will be returning year after year now and am counting the days down to Aug 2011.
