We have just returned from an absolutely fantastic week in Sorrento at the Hotel Minerva. The hotel was superb. We had lovely adjacent rooms, with balconies overlooking the wonderful bay and fantastic views. We loved everything about the hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooftop pool was refreshing and relaxing and Franco made sure that it was beautifully maintained. The jacuzzi was also an added bonus on the terrace by Reception. The meals in the Restaurant were excellent and the waiters all extremely courteous and friendly. Evening drinks on the terrace, listening to music and looking across the bay finished our days off beautifully. We took a trip to Capri on one of the days. Our guide was excellent and we did enjoy our visit, although it was an incredibly hot and crowded day on the island. We also went to Vesuvius and Herculaneum - again we had an excellent guide and the day was most enjoyable. A short stroll from the Hotel Minerva took us into Sorrento, a very lively and colourful town with some lovely shops and bars to sit and watch the hustle and bustle. The transfers to and from the airport were very good and the arrangements made by Thomson ensured that check-in on our return was hassle-free. All in all, our family agreed that our stay in Sorrento, and especially the Hotel Minerva, was our best holiday yet. We fully intend to return! S Rutherford, Surrey

A superb hotel. We stayed here for one week but wished it could have been two, purely for the fact that there is so much to see and do here. Because of the location of this hotel you need to enjoy walking, this involves steps and gradients, however do not let this put you off as the views from this hotel are outstanding. We did the Thomson trips to Vesuvius and Pompei and also the Amalfi Drive, these were good value and ensured that you did not miss anything of importance. We did Capri ourselves by taking the hydrofoil from the Marina, worth doing as Capri is so pretty, however be wary of the prices on the island. We couldn't have chosen a better hotel, exceptionally clean in all areas, the views were fantastic and meals excellent. Outstanding, friendly and professional staff who could not do enough for you. The whole experience just makes us want to return as soon as possible.

Stunning views, superb location, excellent food, awesome scenery, brilliant friendly and efficient staff and service. Would not change a single thing about this hotel, we had the best holiday ever and ran out of superlatives by day 3..! Sea view with balcony is well worth it - the view is to die for. Only downside is that we probably won't ever match this holiday for its sheer perfection - so we will no doubt return again one day.

A great Little Gem of a hotel. Good Location - just outside of the main town, but within a short stroll of all the bars and shops. Staff are all really nice and can't do enough for you from the time you walk through the doors till your leaving the hotel. The food is fantastic the portions are above avarage and the Gala Dinner is certainly worth attending - a nice occassion to dress up for. The pool is on the roof top so you can enjoy great views over the Bay of Naples, pool towels are provided. The hotel is quite at night which is a bonus. Entertainment is ok, not everyone's pick but that depends on your age range. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The Jolly Market is just down from the hotel and is worth a vist to stock up on supplies for the day - always helpful and opens long hours and is the cheapest we could find. The Kiosk Bar in the town is worth a visit for a cheap beer - possible the cheapest beers in town, they make you very welcome. The staff at the hotel are amongst the best we have ever had and the hotel well it's a little bit of Italy you will always remember - a real little treat.

My husband and I visited Italy for the first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and are so pleased that we chose Sorrento and the Minerva hotel. The town itself it beautiful, and well located for trips to Capri and Pompei, which are only 30 minutes away. The hotel is lovely, and we were pleased to be upgraded to a junior suite. We were initially a little concerned about the walk into town, but although the hotel is on a cliff, high above Sorrento, the walk is not a steep one, and is actually rather pleasant. The location also provides stunning views accross the water to Vesuvios, and of Sorrento itself. The food was generally very good, though the breakfast lacked a bit of variety. The staff were fantastic, spoke excellent English, and couldnt be more friendly or helpful if they tried. All in all, we had a fantastic time!
