My friend and I stayed at this hotel between the 21st and 28th September 08 and to be honest, wished we hadn't. The hotel is dirty and out of date, the food is terrible and what we saw of Sousse was also filthy and still in a state of what I can only describe as poverty. It is not the type of place I want to be for a holiday. It was a last minute holiday so we took what we thought looked good on the internet. The booking, ticketing, airport and flight services were excellent and I cannot fault any of that. We arrived at the hotel and eventually arrived in our room but didn't stay. It smelt terrible and was quite filthy. Not quite as filthy as the corridors leading to all rooms. I really have never seen anything like it before. The carpets were disgusting and the walls dirty. At night the stairways were unlight and it felt like a no go zone. After really having to insist, we were allocated a room which was acceptable on the floor above with a view towards the main terrace and dining room. We were half board and that meant eating between 6.30pm and 7.30pm so we went for our first evening dinner at 6.45pm to find most of the food gone, and no deserts left at all. The Russians had cleared the lot and staff would not replenish anything as we had to be out for 7.30pm so they could prepare for the all inclusives meal. The morning welcome meeting was excellent and if I have one good word for the holiday it must be for the Thomson rep who was very very good. He had arranged for Thomson guests to eat at the small, normally lunch time only restaurant which meant we could sit by the pool and where the waiters were very nice. The food was so much better although after a week of the same food it does get a bit boring. The pool area is really quite nice but is totally spoiled by the extremely loud disco music that is played every day from 10am to 6pm. I used ear plugs every day to try and blot it out. The beach, just two mins walk is very nice although we only visited it a few times. Evening entertainment is ok if you like tombola, bingo and karioki. We went on an excursion of Three cities, but it was a day of visiting mosques, filthy shopping places and looking at poverty. Everywhere in Sousse is full of litter with bags of rubbish everywhere. Streets, roads and open ground. If you enjoy your holidays, avoid this resort and this hotel, it is terrible. How other writers can give it good reports I just do not know !
having stayed at the tour khalef in august we were very very disappointed. the hotel is absolutely no way a 4 *, more like 1*.when we arrived,at2.30am, one of our rooms was filthy. we were woken the next morning by the building work on site (which we were meant to have been told about by thomson),we got ready and headed down for breakfast only to be met by the most rude and greedy(which is putting it mildly)russians, you had to queue up for your food only to get there and the russians had taken it all,one taking all 15 fried eggs that were cooked, the restaurant staff are very polite and more than know what these people are like!!! we headed down to the pool where there is a constant noise of drilling and building work,my husband works with these tools all year round and had we been told about this building work we would never had gone here.the daytime entertainment is good and the animation team are good fun and very polite. it was the same situation in the restaurant at night ,unbelievable!!! english are very much a minority in this hotel. the restaurant staff are excellent particularly in the poolside restaurant.the entertainment at night was very limited with the same night after night, boring, boring, boring. we stayed half board but family with us stayed all inclusive and they could be waiting for 35-40 mins at a time to get served at the all inclusive bar. this routine would be every day ,there is nothing much outside the complex and it is filthy, what is outside was mainly closed the second week because it was ramadam. the hotel reception are not very polite, just before we left to come home we were called by reception to pay 40 dinar for a glass table top we had supposedly broken which we definately had not, after we argued they said it was ok,what a farce. try to get a complaint form off the rep and you stand a better chance of getting a fried egg at breakfast ! need i say more...........
I travelled there with my husband and our 8 year old son. Our stay at the Tour Khalef was lovely. The staff were warm friendly and kind. The one and only downside to the stay were the horrendous amount of bullying greedy Russians. I hope that Thomson find a way of taking over the hotel, there by giving us Brits more exclusivity there. The food was good, the room clean spacious and comfortable. The evening entertainment satisfactory, the pool and surrounding area clean and with no shortage of loungers. The Thomson rep Feti was helpful and informative. The hotel staff were always attentive and polite, We went on the Sahara trip which was a wonderful, unforgettable experience. Overall we enjoyed our time there so much that we have booked to visit again next July. Long live Tunisia and the Tunisians !!!
Me and my wife celebrated our 10th wedding aniversary in sousse and we stayed at the tour khalef hotel. From the minute we got there till the minute we left our stay was top class, the staff were so friendly and helpfull it was just the business. The complex was top class, the entertainment was magic, the only negative thing was the russian people there attitude was disrespectfull, all there greedy ways when it comes to food there just isnt enough food for there plates. there is 2 resturants in the complex, the wee one next to the pizza place is so cosy and warm it a brilliant place to eat and its russian free most of the brittish folk there and the food was more brittish orantation, there is a man called josef , this man is a total gentleman and goes that wee bit extra to make sure you are happy. all in all the full resort is great and loads to do for adults and kids a like, the beaches are clean and well kept. a wee hint if you want to really bargain, take some whiskey with you and they will swap there familys for a bottle, not joking they love the whiskey to round off we are going back again but this time we are taking the kids and going for longer and later on in june. if you want to try something knew try sousse and the tour khalef you will love and you will want to go back and lastly a big thanks to holiday reps they where so helpfull cheers fhaty and the girls .cant wait for 2009 . try it
I have just visited Tunisia for 1st time - I travelled with my husband and 2 boys age 5 & 9 years. The hotel reception was very welcoming and clean, staff friendly. We booked the superior family room this gave the boys there own twin room but it didn't have much storage space for a 2 week stay. The rep recommended we left a dinar on the bed each day for the maid we did this and found the maid to be excellent. Food was repetitive but edible. We ate most nights next to the swimming pool to avoid the rush of the restaurant. A few times we had lunch instead of dinner and went into Sousse for a meal which made a nice change. A taxi to Sousse was 5 dinar. The food & drinks are cheaper outside the hotel. A beer & a coke is 5 dinar plus tip at hotel and 3 dinar outside, either way its alot cheaper than here! I think staying 1/2 board at this hotel would be the best value for money.Probably rate it overall as 7 out of 10.
